i had a wonderful day with my parents today.
they got to the city around 10:30 and we headed downtown. got to the dome nice and early, got a sausage from my guy, revelled in the gorgeous weather and gloriously fun atmosphere that comes with a saturday game. we went inside around noon and headed to the jays shop. my stepdad bought a new hat and my mom bought a canada shirsey. i debated one for myself but resisted.
our seats were great - in the shade, on the third base side. nice and cushy with a great view. poor zach was sitting opposite us, in full sun on the first base side. i kept getting texts from him about how even his sweat was sweating, and how he was debating breaking his own leg so he could finish out the game from the shaded handicapped seats. despite the heat, it was a great game. bats on bats on bats, with a final score of 11-9, blue jays.
after the game, we headed west to the fox and the fiddle, which i think will be my new post-game go-to. because of its location, it's not as packed as the bars on front, or east of the dome, but it's got a wonderful patio, great food, and reasonable prices. oh, it's also across the street from jpa and brett lawrie's condos, so there's that. haha.
while we were eating, i noticed gregg zaun [former blue jay/current baseball "personality"] at the bar and pointed him out to the 'rents. they were obviously excited but played it cool. teehee. then, a few minutes later, i looked up and pointed out jp arencibia [jays catcher and total babe] walking his dog [cutest french bulldog!], likely home post-game. so yay, 2 jays sightings outside of the dome.
after dinner, we dawdled our way back to the subway via the entertainment district. i played tour guide a little, which was fun.
immediately upon returning home, i took a nice cool shower, and am now relaxing with my husband. great day was great. |
