in the words of penny lane: "it's all happening!"
mom messaged me today with a moving solution. my stepdad [robert] has secured the 1st and 2nd of october off work. that means that josh and i will get the uhaul on sept 30, load it up ourselves, and be out of the house that afternoon. we'll park the truck at his dad's shop and drive to winnipeg to pick up my stepdad. we'll all spend the night at josh's parents', and take off first thing in the morning. robert figures we can do the trip in 2 days. 2 long, solid days, of being squished in a truck with robert and josh, all of us taking turns with the driving, but robert doing the most. it's going to be an experience, to say the least.
i called this afternoon and booked the uhaul truck and tow/trailer-thingie [we're towing my car].
mom is going to look at 5ish apartments on tuesday for us.
i've started to sell some of my stuff. i put some listings on a local online bulletin board this week, and today some lady came and got the coffee and end tables i was selling. i listed them for $10 and she paid me $20, so that was rad [especially considering that when i moved here, i bought some "transitional" furniture from a girl who was moving away, and got a kitchen table + chairs, a dresser, and the coffee + end tables, delivered to my house, all for $40]. i've also had emails about my futon and our bbq [which we're holding onto for another 2 weeks].
our plan to spend the day at the lake, swimming and lazily floating around the bay, was ruined by insane thunder/lightning storms and ridiculous downpour. silver lining tho: my packing has officially begun. i don't want my house to be empty for the next month and a half, but as someone who has moved her fair share of times, i know that moving day really has a tendency to sneak up fast. i'd rather get a headstart on it, and realize that i should slow down, than look around the day before we load the truck and go "omg, nothing's packed. we're so screwed!" today i boxed up some dvd's, to add to the boxes josh packed the second i called to tell him we were moving [excited much?]. i think that next [tomorrow?] i'll pack the [winter] clothes i won't be needing before the move.
it has begun:
