i guess it really is just me, myself, and all my millions.

i have had an amazing weekend. a weekend of laughs, gluttony, and surreal experiences.
friday night after work we packed up all our stuff and headed to the dome. we arrived in our hotel just after 5 and headed up to our room. it was at this point that i was unsure if i was in a hotel, celebrating my birthday, or if i had in fact died and gond to heaven. the room itself was nothing particularly special, tho it was spacious and comfortable. the amazing part was the view. we overlooked the field, and while i had been expecting it, it was amazing to experience. the window opened and i stood there watching batting practice as the stadium began to smell like hot dogs and people started fiding seats to watch warm ups.
josh filled the tub with ice while i unpacked a bunch of food. within an hour, friends had arrived, some with snacks, or signs. holland came thru on bringing 100 chicken wings, and we feasted, drank, watched the game, were generally hilarious. the jays lost -- blowing a 2 run lead twice in the game -- but it was still an amazing night full of glorious people.
after the last of our friends had left, and the dome was empty but for 5 cleaning staff, josh and i had great sex, overlooking the ball park. it was awesome! baseball + exhibitionism + hotel sex?! oh yes please.
it was amazing and surreal to wake up inside the skydome. we tidied up the room and packed our stuff, then sat and watched them prep the field for saturday's day game. at one point there was a family - mom, dad, baby, dog - on the field. i don't know who they were (obviously involved in the blue jays organization) but watching that dog play fetch in the outfield, while the toddler ran after him laughing, was possibly the cutest thing i've ever seen.
our check out was at 11, but the afternoon game wasn't till 4, so we had some time to kill. we checked my backpack at the hotel and went to cora's for brunch. mmm. then we walked to the eaton centre, partly because josh wanted to buy a bluray, partly just for something to do. by the time we browsed and shopped and made our way back down to the dome, it was just after 2, so we went in and watched some batting practice. i also went to the jays shop and finally bought a jersey as a birthday gift to myself. on our way to our seats we realised that brett lawrie was signing autographs at the bottom of our section. i didn't crowd in to get one (i'm not big on autographs) but i did stare at him for a while. oh my god those arms!!!
the jays redeemed themselves in yesterday's game with a 7-0 victory. long story short, they were up 3-0, 2 runners on, and they intentionally walked my boyfriend adam lind with no outs. i could not wrap my head around their train of thought on that one, especially not with encarnacion on deck. i looked at josh and said "grand slam whaaaaaat?" and he said "yeah, first pitch". we were both right, and boom! like that grand slam, 7-0, that's the ball game.
after the game we went to the keg mansion for dinner. we had gift cards from his mom she's been telling us to use, and josh has been chomping at the bit for a good steak, so we went, even tho i knew it was a saturday night and it would be busy. we got there around 8 and were told it would be an hour for a table. we headed upstairs to the bar area, and as id feared it was crazy busy. now, i don't mind waiting for a table in the restaurant, but i hate standing around a busy bar with nowhere to sit down or even rest your drink if you can get one. luckily for me, my neon shirt and awesome boobs seemed to attract the attention of one of the waitresses. she approached us and said that she'd get us to a table next. within minutes we had table for 2 with comfy seats, up the stairs and away from the din of the bar. as we walked toward our seat some girl totally snarked at me, muttering about how she'd been waiting longer than us. sorry sweetheart, sometimes the chubby stacked girl gets seated.
we had some drinks and split an app, and exactly one hour after we'd arrived our buzzer went off for our table downstairs. we ordered quickly, as we both knew what we wanted, but our dinner took a long time to come out since the kitchen was particulalry slammed, even for a saturday. our waiter kept apologising and comped us a salad. i didn't even really want it, but he felt so bad that josh and i agreed to split one. by the time our steaks came out it was 10 and i was ready to just come home and sleep. that said, what i ate was delicious - i just ended up doggybagging most of my meal. no sense eating such a delicious dinner just for the sake of feeling bloated and uncomfortably full.
when josh and i got home last night, we changed the sheets on our bed, and essentially passed out. this morning's sleep-ins were glorious, with neither of us having to be up for anything. we took our time getting up and dressed, then headed about our usual sunday errands. we stocked up at the grocery store, so there's no excuse not to eat well this week. the plan is to work hard at getting back on track after a week of terribly excessive "birthday" eating.
