this weekend has been wonderful. there was the aforementioned friday night shenanigans. yesterday brought a visit from my friend and former roommate, elena. i hadn't seen laineybean in 5ish years, and our reunion was GLORIOUS! gossip, giggles, and good will hunting. i thought she was spending the night, but ended up leaving around 11:30. it was so nice to see her, and catch up. i'm hoping that she'll make another trip into the city in the not too distant future, and we'll do something fun downtown. she's done a lot of travelling, and is taking photojournalism at college, so i'm thinking that she would be amazing to hit some artsy stuff with. we also talked about how badly we're both craving some new ink, so maybe she'll make a trip in for some tattooage.
today was low-key and lovely. as with the rest of the weekend, the weather was gorgeous. i couldn't bear to waste the day inside, so i happily ran errands, driving with my window open. even tho i knew he'd likely still be in bed, i took a drive over to zuber's with leftovers, as last night's "macaroni madness" sort of turned into "i made way too much food and no one ended up coming for dinner except elena". i put some of the surplus in the zuberware, and had a special meat-free pan of it for his vegetarian girlfriend [i wasn't sure if she'd be coming for dinner and didn't want to exclude her like i unintentionally(!!!) did last time].
my "visit" consisted of zach letting me in, me putting food in the fridge, zube coming out of his room half-asleep and half-naked, saying "thanks. awesome! i'm going back to bed", and me driving home listening to a killer mix on my ipod, so i emailed him some instructions:
"hey, sorry if i interrupted anything (like sleep). your grown up locked door makes it harder for me to drop stuff off in your fridge in a stealthy manner.
your macaroni in the tupperware just needs to be heated.
caitlin's would be best baked (350ish) till it's hot (20 min??) then take the foil off and broil for a couple minutes to make the cheese on top most delicious. or... if you're not willing to wait that long, just take the foil off and microwave it. it'll be slightly less awesome, but i'd assume pretty good nontheless.
enjoy!"
his response:
"You're such an angel for dropping that stuff off.
I appreciate it so much!
Sorry I was such a grump when you came by. You know how I can be that early in the morning (1pm?).
I have my macaroni in the fridge here at work, and Caitlin is currently enjoying hers at my apartment.
You're such an angel.
I love you so much."
me, again:
"You're welcome, hunneh!
I'm glad it's being/will be enjoyed.
I hope Caitlin's is comparable, tho lets not kid ourselves, it has no bacon.
Thanks for letting me crash Friday night, btw.
Loveeee!"
ps: to anyone who questions my relationship with one of my best friends: fuck you!
the late afternoon was spent cuddling on the couch with my bee, watching the dark knight. such a great movie, truly. dinner was more fantabulous macaroni. the house is tidy (i cleaned before elena came) so i don't have to worry about tidying up before my mother's random visit tomorrow. life is pretty damn good. |
