my mom texting me in the morning with a "want to get lunch?" is one of the best things about moving here, hands down.
mom came to town today to run a couple of errands. i went along and did some of my christmas shopping on the way. we now have our tree (which will go up dec 1st) and i've completed shopping for mom, my step-dad, and joshua. feels good.
when we got back to my house, mom helped me unpack my china. finally! it was my grandmother's. it has been in storage, waiting for me, for 13 years. it was stored at my mom's place since my grandma died, and tho it has been here for about a month or so, i didn't have anywhere to put it, so it's just been in a tote in my garage. i've been eyeing a little china/storage cabinet for months; my parents bought it for me as an early christmas gift and i put it together this week.
i now have formal place-settings for 12 people. i want to have a fancy dinner party right meow!





tonight i threw together a one-pot wonder of cheesy chicken veggie orzo and it turned out fantastically. it will definitely have a place in our regular recipe rotation.



oh, PS: we are TOTALLY GETTING A PUPPY!
