a tale of two interviews:
long story short, joshua has a second interview tomorrow, to manage his own store, in a place we'd be happy to move to. the town is about 45 minutes from my parents', so josh would stay with them and make the drive every day until we found a place of our own up there. he interviewed with the district manager last week, and is speaking with the area manager tomorrow afternoon. it would be both a promotion, and a means to the move we want, all in one. he is (we are) terrified as to what it would mean if he's actually offered the job, but we're ready for the sacrifices we'd have to make to make it work.
meanwhile, after hearing nothing from a job i applied to weeks (months?) ago, i got an email this afternoon, saying that they're still looking for someone, and that i should contact them to arrange a meeting at a time and place that is convenient to me. this is in another town to which i think we'd be willing to move. it's only a part-time job - the email said i'd be needed at least thrice/week - but i think that with a competitive wage for my position, i'd bring in nearly what josh would make working full-time at his job. i'm going to contact them for an interview, and see what we can do.
obviously neither of these are a sure thing, and if both are offered to us, i really don't know what will happen. but it would sure be nice to have options. heck, at this point, it's nice to just have hope. after so many doors closing on us, i can't help but feel like there's actually some light at the end of the tunnel right now. all i can do is cross my fingers, think good thoughts, and hope that things finally line up for us to get out of here. |
