it's been a pretty solid 24 hours.
yesterday was christopher's birthday, so we went for dinner at victory café and drinks at green room. aka annex. aka hipster central. it was fun, tho i kept thinking that i saw people from my pseudo-scenester past and it was freaking me out. it's retarded how good the grilled cheese is at victory. chris made me taste his, and it was outstanding. also, the dipping sauce they have for their fries is wicked good.
after many texts, lauren joined us for drinks, and it was nice to see her. she and i had a little chat about the situation with her and andrew, and i understand and appreciate where she's coming from. it's all very practical and logical, it just sucks. we bailed fairly early and lauren gave us a ride to sherbourne, which was really nice of her.
i slept in slightly today, then josh and i (finally) went to pick up our new tv! it's our christmas gift from his parents, and it's wonderful. 40" of sharp aquos goodness. it fits so perfectly in our apartment, and the stand we bought for it is pretty perfect.
i went downtown with josh when he left for work, and did a little shopping. i bought some sweaters for my mom for christmas, since she was complaining that she didn't have any last time i was home. it didn't hurt that old navy was having a great sale, so i picked up both sweaters as well as some cute camis for $46, taxes in. satisfied with the majority of a gift for the person i find hardest to shop for, i was ready to take on the search for a dress for my christmas party (which is friday). guess what guys? mission accomplished! in one store! i tried on two dresses, and while i liked both of them, one was just *it*. the salesgirl agreed, and loved it. it's just past my knees, with a high back, thick straps, and a criss-cross front. it's purple with a black sheer overlay, with flowers on it, and some sparkley bits, and there's a thick black satin band under the bust. this description may be terrible, but i assure you that it's lovely, and a very classic shape. i feel sort of like a pin-up girl in it, and we all know how i feel about pin-up girls. also, i can wear a real, normal bra with it, which is always a huge plus. i think i'll wear it with these cute, round-toe black pumps i have. i'm unsure as to whether i'll go with bare legs, or black hose, but i've got a week to decide.
quite thrilled with myself and my purchases, i hopped on the subway to andrew's, grabbed us starbucks lattes beside the station, and chilled with him for an hour or so while he got ready for work. between conversations about john mayer's various albums and general awesomeness, we talked a little about lauren, and how it's strange that my two girl friends in the city are his former girlfriends. i'm so glad that i have him around, and that he's such a laidback dude. not everyone would be cool me hanging out with girls they list as exes.
i'm currently waiting for joshua to get home from work, so we can set up our new hd cable box, watch the hockey game, and put up our christmas tree.
