ugh. i really don't want to work tomorrow. the only thing that will be me thru the next 7 straight days of work is knowing that at the end of them i'll be going to winnipeg with lindsay for some down-time. not that i've been balls to the walls busy the last couple of days, but it's just nice to get out of the friggin' city limits. i don't think many people can grasp how isolated this place is, and how frustrating it can be. i sure didn't, pre-move.
one of my joys here (or anywhere) continues to be cooking. i'd never want to cook professionally, as i only enjoy making what i want to make, when i want to make it, but i really do enjoy putting a nice meal together, experimenting with flavours and techniques. tonight josh and i made a delicious dinner of stuffed chicken breasts, asparagus and rice. now, i know i'm far from the inventor of the stuffed chicken breast, but i was actually incredibly proud of the way they turned out, considering that neither of us had made them before and we more or less made it up as we went along. there's a bit of a photo doc on facebook, if we're friends. otherwise, check out these pictures:
raw.
the chicken breasts were rolled around prosciutto, herb and garlic cream cheese, mozzarella, and asparagus.
seared. deglazed. extra asparagus.
into the oven.
finished product.
