i feel like i haven't written in forever. not that there's much going on that i need to capture. not writing just makes me feel like a slacker.
zuber came over for dinner last night. it was really nice to see him one on one, and sober. i made tacos for dinner. i ate two, josh likely had three, and i swear zube ate about seven. i encouraged it, and laughed. my poor starving student. i also served him a big bowl of ice cream for dessert. he's adorable. after dinner we just sprawled out on the couch and watched mindless television. he nearly passed out with his head in my lap while we watched the hockey game. he ended up leaving around 10:15, and i think that if he'd stayed any longer, he'd have just fallen asleep here for the night.
today at work we had our big holiday luncheon. my boss ordered so much food and we all absolutely stuffed ourselves. so delicious! we did our gift exchange, and the guy who frustrates me because he lacks any kind of common sense had my name. i was afraid to see what he came up with, but he gave me a hot chocolate set [mix and mugs] and some ice wine [which i'll take to my mother's for christmas] so no complaints from me.
i'm really proud of joshua. he started working at sunglass hut a couple of weeks ago, and has already been hand-picked to move to another store, and upgraded to permanent full-time. he's selling like a mad man, and it's really nice just to see him excited about work again. he was really depressed over his employment situation [or lack thereof] and i could tell that it was getting him down in all areas of life. now that he's back to work, he's got focus again. it's really sexy, actually. also, now that he's working at holt renfrew centre instead of eaton centre, his hours are going to be most closely corrolated with my own. after him not working for so long, we weren't complaining about him having to work evenings or weekends, but it will be nice that we'll still get to make and eat dinner together a few times per week, and hopefully run errands together on weekends.
brother [#2] and [only] sister are coming down this weekend. i'm really looking forward to hanging out with them, but i'm sort of hoping that aspen has forgotten that i said i'd take her to the eaton centre. why i would suggest such a thing on the saturday before christmas is beyond me. i'm hoping that she's okay with kensington, and maybe even st. lawrence market. entertainment district. anything really. that said, i hope that if we're wandering the streets of toronto, it's not too cold. it seems i've become a bit of a pansy in my old age, and would like to be able to feel my appendages.
this is the last 5 day work week of 2010. i'll be so thankful when it's over.
