09/30/2012

it's been a good couple of days.
jes showed up just before noon yesterday and we hit the subway, bound for the dome. got some street meat, which was delicious despite a sauerkraut shortage [our own fault for getting there late]. we had amazing seats, behind home plate, up 21 rows, and they were free, which made them even better. toronto won 3-2 over the yankees, and all was right with the world.

we took our time coming home, stopping at the liquor store for wine, then at my favourite gelato place on the danforth. i had mango and penguino, jes had strawberry and pear, all of it was delicious. we got home around 6 and decided we were in for the night, so i washed off my makeup, we put on pyjamas, and settled in on the couch. i ordered pizza for dinner, and timed it so it would get here as josh got home from work. the three of us scarfed down dinner while watching tv.
around 8:30 my phone rang. it was a number i didn't recognise, and considering how few people actually call me, i answered it with a slight hesitation, expecting a wrong number or a telemarketer. i was shocked to find it was my "internet friend" darryl. we've talked online for 9 years now, and lived in the same city for 2 and a half, yet we've never met. he also talks to jes, and knew she was in town. jes and i have taken to calling him polkaroo, because any time we've mentioned meeting up, he's got something that puts him somewhere else, and we keep missing one another. my surprise at hearing his voice was escalated when he said he was hoping we'd like to meet up for a drink somewhere. tho we'd planned to be in for the night, that years-in-the-making invitation was all it took to get us back into skinny jeans, casual tops, and some makeup again. josh chose to stay home after a long, shitty day at work, so jes and i met darryl and his girlfriend at a bar not far from their place called disgraceland. my tummy was feeling a little funny [too much pizza?] so i stuck to diet coke, but we had a few drinks and played a few games from the bar's shelf full of board games. we spent about an hour and a half there with them, and it was just a really nice evening.
when we got home sometime after midnight, both jesyka and myself were terribly tired. we went straight to bed like the old ladies we are.
we managed to sleep in this morning, till nearly 10 o'clock. i showered and whatnot, and at noon we headed to our favourite sushi place for brunch. om nom nom.
jes is gone now, and i'm just vegging on the couch with my lovey. i can't wait for dexter tonight.

That's great that you finally got to get together! I have a handful of online friends, most of them from Bloop, but I've never met any of them IRL. I'd love to though! Seems no one ever lives in my area WHILE I'm living there.

Thanks. It feels weird to still be considered "new".

Wine, gelato and pizza sound great.

I've never had a gelato...pretty sure I can't buy one anywhere in town, either. lol oh well, don't know what I'm missing, I guess.

I already miss sleeping in until 10..it's been so long...lol
