we're... mostly unpacked. well, maybe not mostly unpacked, but almost all of the boxes have been moved out of the garage. we haven't unpacked any of the media because we're planning to paint the rec room before we load the hundreds of dvds and blurays onto the shelves we have - it seemed silly to fill the shelves just to have to move everything when dad and i paint on the 19th.
we've been dogsitting my mom's dog since the 3rd. it's been nice to have her here. being home alone most days is strange, it's been nice to have the company, even if she is kind of an idiot and spends most of her time sleeping.
i'm cooking thanksgiving dinner for my family on sunday, and frankly i'm a little terrified. i'm sure it will be fine, but doing everything alone for the first time is going to stress me out a little, i can't lie. turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes (i'm thinking roasted garlic), turnip, broccoli, rolls - everything is ready for all of that. i did cop out and buy dessert, but no one is going to call me out on that, because who doesn't love cake?
about a month before we moved, we found a beautiful sectional couch at an awesome price, so we ordered it for pick-up the day after we moved in. it was all a little too easy, until we tried to get it into the basement. there was no way in hell that thing was making it down our stairs. brutal. after some sweating and cursing, we had to admit defeat and we returned it. thankfully the store gave us a full refund. we found another sectional at another store that comes in smaller pieces; it is being delivered tomorrow and i cannot wait! it looks like this:
long story short, we weren't sure when we ordered it how long it would take to come in. the store's website said end of october. when we went in-store to order, we told them we had to have it by the 22nd (semi-arbitrary date, we have a housewarming party planned the 26th) and they seemed to think that was possible. they called 2 days ago and said that it would be ready for delivery tomorrow. it will be awesome to return the love seat we borrowed from upstairs and feel like both the living room and the rec room have the right furniture.
i have been plowing thru things on netflix. i watched all of orange is the new black in 2 days, and loved it! sherlock also took 2 days. then season one of homeland. now i'm onto something else. i can absolutely say i have watched more netflix in the past 2 weeks than i have in the last 2 years.
okay, i think i'll wrap this up. i'll leave you with this picture i took the other day, a few blocks from my house.
