these so-called vacations will soon be my death. [photos]

03/28/2010

this weekend has been incredible.
after waffling back and forth, josh decided to come to london with me. we'd been invited to stay at ben's (parents') place, but on a whim decided to book a hotel downtown instead. his parents live out in byron, and i figured that instead of paying $60 for cabs, i might as well spend a little extra and get a suite right near all the action. i'm glad that i did. our suite was lovely, and made everything so easy. i didn't feel like i was imposing, i got to sleep in a big comfy king-size bed, i didn't have to worry about where to park my car, and we were to and from the bar and restaurant in a 3 minute walk.
we got to london around 3:30, did a quick attempt at shopping, picked up some drinking essentials [mix, snacks, and gatorade], and checked into the hotel around 5. we met emilia at green tea for all you can eat sushi at 5:30. for once, she was on time, and we took full advantage of the all you can eat aspect of the meal. don't judge me. josh and i got back to the hotel a couple hours later and were joined by ben for some pregaming. we went to the bar early, because blooms is murder on a saturday, and we wanted "our spot". people started to join us around 10, and it was wonderful to see friends and acquiantances i hadn't seen in years. we caught up, drank too much, sang along with mike o'brien, took random photos, and all in all had a wonderful night.
somewhat to my surprise we made it to last call and beyond, with josh and i stopping for poutine and gyros after i said goodbye to ben for another year. the post-bar food was divine and my sleep was superb. i woke up this morning around 9:30 with only the slightest of hangovers, thank god. we hit cora's for breakfast and i invented an eggs benedict with swiss cheese, smoked salmon, and asparagus that i recommend you all try. it made my life so much better. post-meal we went to the cemetary where my grandparents are chillin' and i visited them for a few minutes. today happened to be my popa's birthday, so i wished him a good one and hope he's enjoying it up there in heaven.
we're home now after a rainy but fast drive back to toronto. i'm so happy i got to see ben before he takes off to aus for a year, and that the trip to london was worthwhile. it was like old times, but better, because i wasn't a totally broke student and could afford to do whatever i wanted last night.

and just for shits, here are the last 24 hours' tweets, to give you an idea how my evening progressed:
[5:11p] About to head for All You Can Eat sushi then reunion drinks with friends. I love London.
[7:24] Staying at the Station Park All Suites and there's a picture of my friend (as a model/promoting a restaurant) in the elevator. Strange.
[10:25] Molly Blooms. My old stomping grounds. So much liquor.
[10:32] Drink, Drank, Drunk
[10:52] Mike O'Brien motherfuckers!
[1:06a] Irish pub. Jason Mraz. Punk as fuck best friend. Dancing. Best ever.
[2:10] Back at the hotel. Gyro devoured. Fucking great night, London.
[9:21] I love hotel beds.
[11:07] I just ordered what I'm sure will be a $23 plate of eggs Benedict. I'm certain it will be worth it.

and now, photos:

I JUST HAD SMOKED SALMON/ASPARAGUS EGGS BENEDICT.

DELISH.

And I will.

You know, I tried poutine but... It just wasn't for me. Fries and gravy, I dig. Cheese curds made me a little iffy.

Sounds like a b-b-b-blast.

Don't worry. I might not have even wrote anything about it and just forgot, haha. On the sonograms and stuff it looks like he's got extra fluid in his brain. They say they like babies to have 50% fluid/50% tissue, and his is looking around 80% fluid/20% tissue. They don't know right now whether his brain is developed, and the fluid is just pushing the brain tissue, or if it isn't developed at all and the fluid is just filling the space. But, the way he moves/kicks he has his motor functions, and her amniotic fluid is normal so he know the whole swallowing thing so with all that they think the extra fluid is just pushing the tissue, but won't know 100% til an MRI after he's born.

After that MRI they'll be able to see more with Brandi's insides and all being there. As long as there isn't an emergency, he will get a shunt put in 1-2 weeks after he's born and he'll stay in the hospital for around a month. The neurologist said that they won't know if he'll be slow in school or anything until the time comes for it.

I think I got it all, and I hope you understand it. I don't know the technical name for the problem though.
