i had a wonderful long weekend. it was very relaxing. we had a yard sale on saturday and my parents visited. not gonna lie, i like this low key vibe lately.
josh came with me to my ob appt today. it was the first time he's heard bean's heartbeat and he teared up. aww. we went in thinking that they would do a membrane sweep (the main reason i wanted joshua there) but the doctor kiboshed that plan. basically he said that it was going to cause me a lot of discomfort and do nothing for my labour, so it wasn't worth it. if i go into labour naturally this week, that's totally fine, but he wasn't going to try to start things when all it was going to do was hurt me and not progress labour. he didn't say his colleagues would have been wrong to try, but i'm glad that he didn't push something that he didn't think was necessary (and i agreed). he said if this was a repeat pregnancy, he'd have gone for it, but as a first time mom, i've basically still got this shit on lock.
so, now i wait another week. assuming that i haven't had the baby, i've got an ultrasound booked next tuesday, followed but another ob appt where will will do a stretch and sweep, and hopefully get this show on the road. thankfully, it works out that joshua is off that day, and i'll be done work then, so i'm totally game if i go into labour at/because of my next appt.
i've got 4 shifts left on the schedule, but i'm trying my hardest to get rid of my weekend. if i'm successful, i'll be done work as of thursday. unfortunately, i don't know if i'll have any luck, because extra bodies are pretty scarce in our department right now. cross your fingers for me, please?
the cleaning service josh's mom gifted me for my birthday came today. they cleaned the main level of the house (floors, interior windows, walls), vacuumed the stairs, and cleaned the bathrooms. it was so great to come home to a clean house this evening. i believe i have 2 "maintenance visits" that will come in handy the week or 2 after baby is born. as much as my mother-in-law saw it as a dig, i still think that was an awesome gift to give a mama-to-be.
bean is wiggling around in there right now, and i am straight up going to miss this little alien in my belly once it comes out. |
