hm. what to say about this weekend?
brand new's show last night was... something. it wasn't terrible, and i had a genuine happy smile on my face for a few hours, but it certainly left a few things to be desired. they didn't play some older songs that i was sure they'd bust out, and the songs they played from the new album were not the ones i love and were very screamy. i realize that bands only have a certain amount of time for a set, and that they have to pick and choose their shit, but in my opinion they made some wrong choices. oddly enough, i find myself really wishing i had tickets to tonight's show too, because i've never seen brand new play the same set twice (even on the same tour, especially not in the same city) so maybe tonight's crowd will get a better show out of the deal. also, in case anyone was unaware, jesse lacey has some issues. serious, deep, fucked up issues.
before the concert, however: absolutely top notch. drew asked me if i'd make dinner before the show, and i happily agreed. i told him i'd bring over protein and starch, as long as he provided a vegetable. i made my famous marinated pork tenderloin and roasted potatoes, as well as roasted asparagus that he and zach picked up. zach, zube, lauren, and i enjoyed the deliciousness with some red wine and hilarious conversation. they could not get enough of the food, it was so tasty. i think that tiny little lauren actually out-ate us all. it's so nice to be able to make people happy like that, and i felt totally proud of the meal i made. the deal is that next time i cook, it's here, and they all have to visit me on the east si-ide.
today my old roommate erin came to visit and help me paint my room. she did all the cutting and i rolled. it's so pretty! the paint went on a little bluer than i was anticipating, and i had a moment of "oh crap, this better dry darker". thankfully it did, and now it's awesome. the lighting in that room varies so much between morning and evening that's it's actually pretty cool to see how different the walls look, depending on the sun. we finally bought curtains yesterday, so hopefully those will go up asap and the room will actually feel done. photowhore me will likely take some pictures once that happens.
we went out for all you can eat sushi lupper, then erin and her boyfriend had to jet so fast that she left her painting stuff here. that's sort of a bonus tho, because josh and i want to paint his office, so we'll use her stuff. sweet.

You rock my life so hard.
I wish I had been there for dinner. That sounds like it would have been an orgasm in my mouth. Mmmm!

Jesse Lacey looks pretty when he's singing out his issues, though. Have to admit.

NEED TO SEE THE COLOR, YO. Why haven't pictures been posted? Laaaame! <3

I'm about to post my Dance entry. :] I have to upload some videos first, though. Phillip Chbeeb is a fucking hottie, what?

I hate when I go to a show expecting it to be AMAZING, and it is in one way, but completely unsatisfying in another. Been there, boo. I know how you feel, hahaha.

I'm excited to see the painting!

Of course it's generalizing. That's the whole point. And the fun of it. It wasn't meant to be offensive or taken too seriously. And of course most of it is Toronto observations, that's where I am. I specifically said some were Toronto specific, or based on observations from people in my class.

I can't say too much, because I obviously haven't been here long enough, but I don't know if I would say that the TV thing is only a toronto/vancouver thing. I say this because you can watch toronto/vancouver tv wherever you are in canada. This is something that's just odd to me. Maybe something else to add to the list. TV is just insane here!

Yes about the "first year", "second year" thing... but... for some reason I don't find that as odd. lol That's something I would say too/ What can I say, I'm weird.
