clearly, i am insane.
with a week left till my vacation starts, and 12 days till our wedding, i have decided that our bedroom simply must be re-done. i've been toying with a colour scheme for a while, and had been visualising things, then today just decided that it was going to happen, and soon.
hear me out tho. a co-worker pretty much volunteered her husband [who is new to the country and not employed] to paint when i mentioned it a few months ago. now, i'm not sure if hubby is okay with this, but i know that he's frustrated with his wife footing all the bills, and despite her insistence that he'd work for free, of course i'll pay him. and i trust him. he's a nice guy [the one time i met him] and i know where she works, thus i'm totally okay with the idea of him coming over to my apartment while we're away for the week. i'll have the room and paint ready to go, take off for the land of weddings and beaches, and arrive home a week later to a newly painted bedroom. change out the duvet cover and the curtains, hang a few pictures, boom! new room for the newlyweds.
the colour scheme is grey and deep purple/almost eggplant. we'll do 3 walls in a light grey, with one accent wall of purple. i knew exactly which curtains and duvet cover we wanted, so joshua and i went to ikea after work this evening. the duvet is a darker grey, and we'll likely add some purple accent pillows on the bed (against the purple wall). the drapes (on a grey wall) are dark purple. our furniture is dark, a brown-black with clean lines. i'll pick up paint this weekend.
i reeeeeealllllly hope that the painter-man comes thru on this. his wife was out sick today, so i facebook messaged her, but got no reply. if he's not interested, i'm going to ask my dad to come down and help paint, as joshua's one stipulation to this makeover was that he didn't have to be involved. aka he hates painting and won't do it. my dad doesn't have much money, and is a big believer in sweat equity - i'd gladly accept help painting as a wedding gift. |
