what a great day it's been.
i guess the greatness started yesterday, really. i called in to work and took a much-needed personal day. i slept till 11, which was glorious. my hair co-operated post-shower, and looked completely adorable in a sort of edgy way, if that makes any sense. we went to eglinton and i started my christmas shopping in earnest. while we were up there, joshua got a call from his new job [squee!!] asking him to come in and sign some paperwork later in the day. he's working at the eaton centre, so i figured i might as well tag along. while he did jobity stuff, i went across to the homesense at yonge and queen. i have a love/hate relationship with that store. i could have spend hours there. i went in with the intention of looking for a sushi set for my sister. they didn't have any, but i stumbled upon gifts for both lauren, and my brother's girlfriend kristin. such cute presents too. love it!
after the mall, we came home and chilled. just an easy night. pizza for dinner, watched a movie, snuggled. we're so cute. just before sleep, i took advantage of sugarpill's sale, and ordered some amazing loose powder shadows. stella, weekender, and darling will very soon be mine. love.
today i slept in again, tho only till 10ish this time. my friend emma came into the city and she, joshua, and i went for sushi for lunch. it was soooo good. i'm convinced that bikkuri makes the best hand rolls. the best tempura shrimp too. oh yes.
after lunch, emmers and i hung out for a few hours. she left at 5 and josh and i headed to winners and walmart. i struck out at winners, but walmart was a success. i got a bunch of things i'd been wanting to pick up for a while, like some new scrub pants, and an organizer for our takeout menus [yes, we have that many, and yes, i am that into organization]. i also bought some adorable christmas cards. and some gifts/stocking stuffers.
other than stockings, i'm done the major players in my gift-giving life. the parents are all bought for, joshua too. lauren and kristin are done. i know what to get aspen, i just need to find it. my brothers are the hardest part. does anyone have suggestions for tweenage boys? i'd prefer not to have to resort to video games, but i do want something they'll appreciate.

RYC: I've never done it before either, but my Dad did it last year and again this year and I loved it so I stole the idea. =) Apparently he saw it on a tree at a store and loved it lol

RYC: That's exactly what I said too. I almost lost my shit on her when she told me what she does with them. It doesn't help that I'm pretty anal about my books. I try not to lend them to anyone unless I know they'll be looked after. I lent out a book to a friend one time, when I got it back, it was practically destroyed. I had to buy another one. It was part of a series and I can't have it looking bad. I also hate when I have a series and some of them are paperback and others are hardcover. Stupid OCD.

RYC: You know I'd take you up on that if I could! I've said before that if I could just psychically siphon off the extra weight of everyone I knew who had some to spare, I'd take it and lose it for them.
Thanks so much for the encouragement!

could get the brothers each a hoody or something. or a gift card for old navy/ west 49 (if they're into that)- which eliminates the video game thing... itunes gift card if they have ipods? dvds- but that might be tough unless you know what they already have. an iou for jays tickets for the summer.
i could probably think of more ideas for boys/ boys at heart, yet i'm at a loss of what to get my sister in law other than some candles & a gift card

i'm not sure how into clothes they are. well, 14 year old would likely dig things, but brothers 3 and 4 (11 and 9) don't give a crap about clothes. no ipods. dvds are still on the table. sadly, i don't think my brothers have the foresight to get excited in december for baseball 6 months away. i do appreciate the suggestions tho.

as for your sister in law, gift cards never go wrong. if you want to give her something more tangible, any of the gift items at sephora (i heard they opened one in london!), specifically from philosophy, or from the body shop or fruits & passions are pretty amazing. if you want a little more bang for your buck, grab a dollar store basket and load up on body stuff at walmart.
