fucking right i'm listening to styx.
so, at this time yesterday this entry would have been a huge venty rant about how work bullshit sucks, job politics suck, (lack of) seniority sucks, my co-worker is a selfish douche, etc., etc., and how i was being denied the only two days off i asked for all summer, because of said selfish douchey co-worker. [and to those who listened to that rant, thank you, i appreciated it]. tonight, however, i'm in a much better mood, because thanks to my amazing nbff and my decent boss, i got the two days off that i requested. yay! so now i'm off july 30-aug 3 [inclusive], and dee can come to visit! she'd better, after the strings i pulled to get the vacation time. ah, who am i kidding? even if she doesn't come it'll be grand to have 5 consecutive days off.
i'm thinking about opening the invite up tho, if dee's cool with it. sort of like "hey everyone who *promised* they'd come visit me in kenora, put your money where your mouth is". it's more or less now or never, given that josh and i hope to be out of here within the year, making this my last summer here. i doubt anyone will actually come, but having an open invite weekend for everyone is really the only way multiple visits will work, considering how hard it was for me to swing those 2 days off for deanne to come up.
in other interesting news, apparently my parents are looking at buying a house in florida. mum dropped that one on me this evening. in lieu of a visit here this summer [which was kiboshed because i couldn't get any time off - surprise!] they're planning to head to florida in early july to look at some properties. nothing fancy, but a place where we can holiday, or maybe lend/rent out to some peeps. they're looking at splitting it with another couple, great friends of theirs. it's all hypothetical right now, but they've done their research and they're looking at a community that they've all visited and enjoyed before. i took a quick look at some of the mls listings and it looks promising. it's amazing how quickly i went from "really? are you insane mom?!" to "cool. i've always wondered what a christmas with palm trees would be like".
i'm heading to lindsay's shortly, for another bonfire. i could definitely get used to this as a way of relaxing on a friday evening. i think i might even give up the sympathetic sober act and have a few adult beverages tonight. |
