You've all heard of Clinique's 3 Step System, right? Well, did you know that there is a version made specifically for people with acne? It's true, and it works even better than you can imagine.
My whole teenage life (and the first 2 years after) I've had severe acne. Much worse than you need to go on Acutane. I never did, though, because I saw how dry your skin gets when you're on it (my mother and brother both went on it and fantastic results). I was about to finally cave and start taking Acutane when I discovered the 3 Step System. I used that for about 2 months. I could see results fairly quickly, but not quickly enough.
On Black Friday of last year I went to the Clinique counter in my local department store and the amazing Clinique consultant Analisa recommended Acne Solutions. Let me tell you, my skin has never looked better! My only concern now is some scarring on my cheeks. I literally saw results after the first week (I'm of the opinion that the 3 Step System helped in this process, but I really can't be sure).
Step One: Cleanser.
Unlike the regular 3 Step System, Acne Solutions comes with a foaming cleanser. It contains 2% Salicylic Acid and the full sized bottle is 4.2 fluid ounces. I just repurchased this cleanser for the first time, which means that if you use 2 pumps twice a day it should last you about 2 months. What I like to do when I use this is to leave it on my skin for a few seconds after I massage it in. This way you give the cleanser time to sink into your skin a little bit better.
Step Two: Toner
This is called the "Clarifying Lotion." It contains 1.5% Salicylic Acid and the full sized bottle is 6.7 fluid ounces. Again, I've had my bottle for about 2 months and I am about 1/3 of the way done with it. It lasts forever. The one thing you need to know about this product is that the medicine in it is in almost a powdery form at the bottom of the bottle. Remember to shake the bottle before you apply it to a cotton ball. Once you've done that rub it all over your face! It will feel extremely clean, trust me.
Step Three: Moisturizer.
The moisturizer contains 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, so use carefully! It will dry out your skin! What I like to do is use this moisturizer at night and in the morning I use my Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. The Dramatically Different Moisturizer can be purchased for between $12.50 and $24.00, depending on the size you want. Both of the moisturizers will last you a very, very long time!
Extra Step: Emergency Gel-Lotion.
This step is not included in the Acne Solutions package, however it is part of the line and can be purchased for $13.50. It is a small 0.5 fluid ounce tube, but it is a spot treatment, so you won't use a lot. This product contains 5% benzoyl peroxide. This is the most amazing spot treatment I have ever used. If you feel a pimple coming on you can put this on it morning and night for one day the blemish will never appear. If you have a blemish just put this on for a day or two and it will be gone before you know it! It is definitely worth the extra money. |
