[3] Unforgivable?

05/29/2014

Have you ever felt like you have done something that was unforgivable? Sometimes we look at things that we have done such as cheating on a spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend or maybe we have a thief, a liar, a drug addict , or an alcoholic and we cannot imagine that we can be forgiven. Sometimes the reason we feel this way is because others tell us they couldn't forgive someone for certain actions, and sadly sometimes the one that is the most unforgiving is our inability to forgive ourselves for our actions.

However God can and does forgive us of our sin. He doesn't categorize sin and forgive some and not others. Not only dies God forgive our sin, but he restores us, cleanses us and if that is not enough the Bible says He remembers them no more, the slate is empty as if you had never committed that sin. he cast them into the depths of the ocean never to be seen or heard from again. He doesn't remind us of past sin nor does he hold it over our heads. He forgives. Then God tells us that we too should forgive others when they have offended us.

May I suggest that you start your acts of forgiveness by forgiving yourself, God has if we confessed it and asked Him to forgive us.

Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, (Psalm 103:1-4 NIV)

forgiveness - so easy - yet so hard to do

I agree with Tina, it's so easy to forgive! But, at the same time, it's the hardest thing to do. What is harder is forgetting the reason why we had to forgive.

I know many people that believe their sin is bigger than God's willingness to forgive, but God forgave Paul, and look what he became.
