[1] Is the Bible Good News for Today?

05/27/2014

Have you ever read the Bible and found yourself asking questions like how does this help me in my everyday living or isn't this book like 2000 years old and times have changed? Truth is almost all of us have asked those questions and the simple answer is that as much as we have changed the issues, the problems, and have not changed as much as we believe.

Man from the Garden of Eden had a problem with sin and man still has a problem with sin. In the beginning Adam was alone and probably lonely and God said it was not good that man be alone so He made him a wife. People today are still lonely even in the midst of so many devices we use to communicate we still feel alone, lonely and unloved. We can talk about for a long time but as much as things change they stay the same. Yes the Bible is applicable for today. Yes the Bible is still the truth on which all things are measured and yes it can help you live a life that is fulfilling and can guide us through the storms of this life. We have Good News that you can use and I want to share that here with you today.

For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [full, personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue). (2 Peter 1:3 AMP)

I find it amazing of just how timely the Word speaks to those who listen.

I find very little of the Bible to applicable to today's life. Actually, I find much of the Bible's "lessons" to be only applied out of context and when it benefits the person who's speaking. =\

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully if you keep reading maybe you will have a different opinion. I know I have had to make some tough decisions in my life even recently that were difficult and the immediate benefits didn't seem to be in accordance with my desire but in the long run, those choices were the correct ones.

I will take the Scripture that I read and think about how it does reflect my every day life. That's how I get some of the devotions I have written in the past.

As well you should Susan for this is how God speaks to us. We read, hear reflect, react and place into practice how we see the Spirit working in our lives and the others around us
