It's Astounding, Time is Fleeting **Edit**

12/12/2010

Yesterday was grocery day for us, but let me tell you how bad the weather sucked. It was not only cold outside, but it was raining all day and it was one of those dreary, blah days where you even hate to go outside unless you absolutely have to do so. If we didn't have to go out, we wouldn't have either, but groceries wait for no man.

We did pretty well on the shopping. We made our list and checked it twce, then hit Wal-Mart for the groceries. We made it in under $200 for the next two weeks, which is pretty good for us. Usually we go WAY over that, but we had to come in with less this time, and we did it, even including buying a pair of sweat pants for Al because he needed them for the Y. He's not fussy. He grabbed the first pair he saw in his size and threw them in he basket. LOL

When we got home, Al unloaded the car and put the groceries away. My blood sugar did a drop on me again, so I was in no condition to help him much. As soon as the groceries were put away, he fixed me some leftover spaghetti for lunch to get my sugar back up. Then he ran out gain to drop some bills off at the post office because he forgot to take them when we went out the first time.

My biodad sent us $60 for Christmas, which came in really handy. I had another overdraft to cover, so A took that money and put it into my account to cover me. Thank goodness. I was $2 short, which is what caused the overdraft. Damnit. But at least it's covered now, and then some.

Mostly we just watched television last night because I didn't feel too much like playing around on the computer. I read for a while and Al watched the Bulls game. We did take a break in the stream of things to go to bed and play for a little while, and I did it more for Al's benefit than my own. I didn't get anything out of it, but it was enjoyable, nonetheless.

This morning I read the next chapter in The Purpose Driven Life, and it's about how life is a temporary assignment. The bible is filled with references about it, calling us pilgrims and foreigners in this land, because it's not our pemanent home. Eternal life in heaven is where our permanent home is located. No one can deny that we start to die as soon as we are born and our time here is short in the grand scheme of things. Whether a person believes or not, the fact remains that we're here and gone in the blink of an eye and we will spend more time in eternity than we do living our human lives.

Point to Ponder: The world is not my home.

Verse to Remember: 2 Corinthians 4:18 - So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Question to Consider: How should the fact that life on earth is just a temporary assignment change the way I am living right now?

I'll have to get back to answering this question. Mom just called and she and Dad are picking Corri up from rehab and taking her to the hospital. Unknown reason at this time. I'll be back with an edit later to update.

**EDIT**

Mom just called and said the hospital has released Corri. Her CT scan came back clear. Her blood pressure and temperature have come down, so the doctor released her and sent her back to rehab with prescriptions. He thinks she has just contracted some sort of virus and she needs to go back and get a lot of rest until she's 100% again.

Thank God.

yes, interested in the update.

one more candle to light on your advent I see.
we just got a super walmart out here too , that has groceries. The only thing Ive bought there so far is potatoes and reading glasses ! Im doing a christmas luncheon for my kids of a spanish dish I used to make called camerones--yes its made of shrimp.
we do not trade presents at the holiday, but I will tuck a christmas card and a check into each childs backpack. I dont want them to be buredned with holiday finances.

what is unseen is eternal, but often times we only think of it as heavenor hell type of thing. we forget to consider the unseen things are things of the heart, thought , and motivations/desires. I am again reminded of the egyptians wieghing the heart after death , to determine its destiny.
a practice that has huge value. yet perhaps too late.

i h8888 getting overdrafts for being like $2 short. It's so infuriating cuz then there's always a big service charge. This is how the banks make their money.

I've got the Purpose Driven Life here somewhere... but at the moment both the husband and myself are supposed to be working on the 7 Principles of Making Your Marriage Work... not that we are in any trouble of divorce or anything but there are definately areas that we need to work on for sure.

Anyways... I could answer that question...

Let's say you rent.. like we do... most people would say.. who cares about the house and trash it or whatever... I say.. take care of your home as if it were your home.. and live life to it's fullest in the place you are now... and also... do what you can for others because you never know when you'll be gone in a moment... to do that one last thing that you didn't get to do cause you put it off....

Does that make sense?
