Once upon a time, there was a woman named Robin. Robin worked for a financial institution. She was completely anal about paying her bills on time, never spending more than she had, keeping her checkbook balanced, and working until she was about to drop.

Over the years, Robin got sick with bipolar disorder, and like everything else in her life, her finances suffered as a result. She lost her job and that nice big income, only to have it replaced with a much smaller Social Security Disability check. She becomes overwhelmed by the bills very easily, and worried when she totals in her head the total amounts owed. She never balances her checkbook and doesn't even keep a register anymore because at times it taxes her brain just a bit too much, and when she turned the bill paying over to her husband, he is so lax about the whole thing, she started getting phone calls and late notices that stressed her out even more.

Now, Robin gets depressed and manic very easily. She never knows at any given moment which way the pendulum will swing. It swings back and forth many times even in the short span of a few hours. When she's in a mixed state, which is manic with all the symptoms of depression, she indulges in retail therapy and gets herself into even more hot water than she was in in the first place. About the only thing Robin has going for her is that when she spends money, it's not always on herself. She thinks about everyone else and loves to give them gifts to make them smile.

On her latest binge, Robin overdrew her checking account by $51, much to her husband's chagrin, and she has a bag with several outfits that need to get to her grandson before Thanksgiving Day. Her husband is giving her grief over not having any money himself to pay the postage, and her already being overdrawn, and said the box can wait until Friday. Well no it can't. Friday is too late. Friday is past Thanksgiving Day.

Robin is not a happy camper.

She offered to give him her credit card that has just enough available to pay for the postage and he gave her grief about that, too. She doesn't know what his problem is, but wishes he'd just get over it already. He's been treating her like crap ever since she turned him down for sex after her migraine episode that lasted two days just to recover from it.

What she'd really like to do is slap the ever-loving shit out of her husband and tell him to grow the fuck up, but she won't do that. No, she will keep it all inside, like she always does, and try her best to play dutiful wife, including doing all the dishes he left for her to do last night. No matter how she feels today, she will force herself to stay awake until he comes home from work and make sure to give him the sex he seems to so desperately need want.

She doesn't know if he's actually going to mail their grandson's clothes or not, but she is hopeful that he will do it, just to keep her off his back. She knows how to push his buttons, and she will push them to get her way about this. She really wants her grandson to have his Thanksgiving clothes.

Today, Robin will be doing all those damn dishes in the sink that her husband left for her to do, and she will change the cat litter box, even though she has a hard time lifting those huge bags of litter to refill it, and she will wash out the water dish and give the kitten littles fresh water. In between doing all that, she will defrost the two pounds of hash browns she needs to make cheesy hashbrown casserole for dinner tonight, and at some point, she will get herself something more to eat than just a cup of coffee. She's got soaps and television shows to catch up on and if it weren't for the fact that she is still waiting for her bowl to come in the mail, she'd probably get stoned just because she's so pissed off today. She still might anyway. She's got a smokable roach sitting here for the time being, and she's got rolling papers.

Robin hates being bipolar and hates the moodiness that comes with it, but maybe, just maybe, this day can get turned around and something good will come of it.
