Not much to say about yesterday, really. I didn't do much all day. The day started off by our water being shut off by the complex because they were working on the pipes. They warned us the day before that this was going to happen, but wouldn't you know, even though they said the water was going off at 9:00am, they shut it off at 8:30am, right after I had washed and rinsed my hair in the shower. I didn't get to wash my face, brush my teeth, or even wash the rest of my body. I felt skuzzy all day long. And here I thought I was planning so well by trying to shower early. At least Al managed to get HIS shower before the water went off.
It's been very cold in Chicagoland the past few days, so we're using this oscillating space heater in the living room, rather than turning on the furnace. I am waiting until the last possible second for the furnace to go on this season. The heater really warms the room, so much so that I had to go outside several times just to cool off. I took a walk to the mailbox and picked up the mail, and then later I walked to the gas station and bought a couple of packs of cigarettes because I was almost out.
I didn't take care of my overdraft at the credit union and will just wait until my Social Security check comes in to do that. There were a couple of things I needed to buy, and I have to have money for Jericho's vet visit on Friday, which I really hope I have enough left to cover. If I don't, I'm totally screwed. I'm not sure even Al has money leftover to give me.
Mom's Christmas present arrived yesterday, but mine didn't show up, and neither did Al's Patriots snuggie that I bought him. There was just one box and it only had her gift in it. I'm hoping the rest comes today. If it doesn't, I'll be on the phone with Kohl's right away.
I got a check for a whopping $5.89 from my mortgage company, which I guess was an overpayment on the mortgage, which is now paid in full. Thank goodness. One less bill to worry about paying.
Do you guys know about the Etsy web site? They have the most darling handmade things. I've bought a couple of things from them in the past. It's all different sellers, and you pay them directly, but Etsy houses them all in one spot as a showcase for people who create and sell their wares. I got my Gone With the Wind messenger bag from them, from a lady doing business as DebsDreams. I like her stuff so much, for Christmas, I'm actually buying my sister a Wizard of Oz hobo bag, because I have to give her SOMETHING for Christmas, no matter how much money I've spent on her already. Deb has the bag on hold for me, along with a darling Chicago Bears hobo bag. It's a one-of-a-kind original, which I'll be able to pay for when I get my Social Security check.
Speaking of buying things, I may be getting another car. We're not going to trade in the Malibu that Al's been driving and racking up miles on, I'm going to let him drive that, but my brother found me a 94 Plymouth Acclaim, one previous owner, with 43,000 miles on it. I've applied for a loan at the credit union to buy it, so we'll see if they give it to me or not. They're only asking $2500 for it. We shall see if I'm able to get it.
Today, I have to take Corri to her med doctor at the county health department, and then we're going to the library to pick up a book they have on hold for her. And I can return two of the books I've finished reading. I've been reading the Shopaholic books by Sophie Kinsella. I have to say, not only are they cute and funny, but I can seriously relate to some of this woman's antics. I'm about to start reading the fourth book in the series.
Well, I guess that's it for today, my fine friends. I guess I had more to say than I thought. Mostly a lot of fluff and very little of me and my emotions, but right now, I guess I don't have a lot to say about that. Who knows? Maybe tomorrow I'll write something of substance.
