Book Count 2011:  10

I woke before the rest of the house this morning, came out to the living room and took care of my dishes on Cafe World while Al and Corri slept peacefully.  Corri woke around 6:30am, fixed some coffee, and even though Al got in at 2am, I had to wake him at 7:00am so they could set out for the plasma donation center.  Al was NOT happy that I woke him up, and he was even LESS happy that I expected him to go in with Corri and donate.  He called me a Bulldog who just won't let stuff go.

They came back home at 10:30am or so and I asked how it went, and Corri informed me that it didn't happen.  Apparently the plasma center was waiting for some new machine to be delivered and they needed that before they could take any new donors.  The other thing is, with a new donor, it takes anywhere from three to five hours the first time, because they have to have a physical and whatnot.  Once again, Al not happy.

Instead, since they were already out, they went to Wal-Mart and bought $98 worth of groceries, that they have little to show for, and then they went to Shell to get gas.  Al's company gave him a Shell gift card the other day, and when he went to use it yesterday, it wouldn't work, so he was late getting to work.  They gave him a new card and he planned to use that today.  He drove to Shell and the new card wouldn't work.  Turns out the new card was a BP card, so he was pissed about that.

Because I woke him so early, his brain isn't functioning on all cylinders and he left the gas tank door open, and the gas cap off.  Even though it was an attached gas cap, because it was flying in the wind while he drove, he lost the gas cap, and discovered that when he got to BP.  So he was pissed that he had to spend extra money to buy a new gas cap.

Then he got pissed at me for adding Corri to our YMCA membership because the membership fee went up from $64 a month to $77 per month for the whole household.  He said I just did it without talking to him about it, but I told him that he's the one who told Corri to start getting me to the gym.  She couldn't do that with guest passes since we only get three a year, so I added her.  Now he's pissed.

All of this anger is directed at me because I'm the one that woke him up after he only had four hours of sleep.  GO BACK TO BED.  That's what I say.  I'm not even going to bring up church tonight.  Corri and I can go by ourselves.  I'm tired of worrying about him.

So Corri went to the Y by herself today.  I was already showered and dressed in my nice clothes because I wasn't planning on going anywhere but to an Al-Anon meeting, so I didn't go with her, but I did drive her and drop her off.  Al went and picked her up because he had to move his car for the dump truck and the scooper going through the neighborhood removing all that snow.  He took her to Ace Hardware and bought Corri her own key lock for the gym because she didn't have one and we had to share a locker last time we went.  That was nice of him.

He seems to be in a better mood now.  I hope it stays that way for the rest of the day.  He's preparing a roast for dinner tonight and when he finishes that, he's going to lay down on his loveseat, curl up and take a little bit of a nap.  Maybe if I'm lucky it'll do him good.

No devotions today because there just wasn't time to do them this morning before everyone got moving.

As for me, I'm probably going to spend the afternoon reading my book until it's time to go to Reconciliation and Mass.  After that, we'll probably just watch television for the rest of the night until bedtime.

Peace out, all.  Hope your Saturday is a good one.

A man I knew loved fried food:  meats, vegetables, fish - anything and everything fried.  He promised his wife that he wouldn't eat any more fried food, but every time he went into a restaurant, the old smells came to him and made both his mouth and eyes water. Time after time, he gave in and indulged in fried delights.  Guiltily, he would admit his transgression to his wife, who would scold him, forgive him, and force him to promise not to fall to the temptation again.  Forgiveness is important for us to feel when we fall, but we shouldn't take advantage of it.  We must always try our best to keep our promises and not ask forgiveness lightly.

Today's thought:  We need fear no condemnation from God when we fall!
