It was at that moment that he knew what his final words would be. Kean had woke up that morning waiting his kids up as they were still on American time. Rose his wife held back at the hotel while Kean took their kinds to the special place his parents took him before they headed to America. He remembered his father picking him up and pointing far off the Ocean.
“You can’t see it now little one but a vast land with lots of freedoms is beyond, endless possibilities and great future for you” Kean’s father had held him up high thinking that perhaps he could see the statue of liberty from where they stood.
Kean’s father was right and he had left a legacy behind for not only is children and the future but forever left his mark in his movies and books. He could see the proud smiling face of his father in the water as he looked down.
“I’ll make you proud daddy!” Kean’s child voice echoed around him.
Laughing teenagers made him turn around to his two teenage children Sue and Gus. As Gus the older one by two years teasing her about the cute boy who had an eye on her at the Hotel. He worked there as a lifeguard summer job. Kean thought that his was now or never.
“Sue , Gus, come closer I have something to tell you.” Kean had watch his two beautiful children walk to where he stood.
“Dad.” Sue said her vocal tons seemed to mature.
“I’m so proud of my precious children. You’ve grown so much and I couldn’t triad the two of you at all. Gus, I don’t hate you I never did. I don’t want you to go through what my uncle did as he died because he was different. You should bring Heath to dinner some night. My, little Sue, go ahead and take that scholarship to Japan you worked so hard for it you deserve to go. You guys grown so much on me and I sometimes till think you are my ‘little stinkers’. Please take care of your mother for me. Gus, Sue looks after each other remember your brother and sister and this very special I want the two of you to stay close as you are. I love you and I will never stop loving you. When I see you again I’ll have that house built for you when you are ready to join me. ”
“Remember the story you told us about grandpa and grandma taking you here when you were little before you moved to America and met mom. We thought this would be the best place to send you off.” Gus finished.
“Welcome back home dad.” Sue broke up.
“Mom, couldn’t make it, her MS is acting up.”
Sue took out the cardboard box that held Kean’s ashes. “It feels like he’s here with us.” Sue said as Gus’ hand rested on the other side of the box.
Before they were about to let go of their father Gus said, “Dad, I never heated you and Heath is meeting us at the air port and treating us to lunch. I’m sorry too…”
“Love you dad, See you soon.” Brother and sister said together.
“I think father gone now.” Sue whispered.
“I think so too, I felt his presents the whole time we’ve been here.”
Gus and Sue faded into the fog back as Kean tuned to see his parents standing there above the water.
“Welcome home.”
