Thanksgiving

11/16/2014

ThanksgivingI have pretty much decided that I'm going to cook Thanksgiving dinner the weekend after Thanksgiving. I work Thanksgiving and that Friday. I have never cooked a bird before. Any suggestions?

Also, the fixings. I have a great stuffing recipe and a corn casserole. I don't know what else to cook with it though. I've never made candied yams or anything like that. I guess I got a lot of searching to do.

The turkey is the easiest thing to cook it basically cooks its self. Just remember to take the innereds out of the neck hole. That is where the little pack will be with the neck, heart, gizzard and liver. You cook that and chop that up to put in your stuffing or gravey. YUM. Make sure you buy a bird with a pop-up so you know when it is done. The only think I cook with mine is onion and oranges but everyone cooks them differently.

Keep us posted.

get a bird with skin, poke a hole in the skin and stuff butter and herbs (sage, thyme, rosemary) between the skin and the meat before you put it in the oven!
