I work each day as a lumbering man
building houses, using these blue print plans
sweating underneath the mid after noon sun
wondering when I will get married and have a son
Friday night comes
I go to a bar with my chums
have a few drinks and watch the game
shooting for the stars but I don’t want any fame
volunteering at the boys and girls club
playing ball and teaching the young cubs
seeing the smiles on their faces
I just hope I am in their hearts too, in special places
a pretty lady walked up to me
she said I am cute and thinks what I do with the kids is neat
I took her out that night, it was my treat
an angel sees my good karma
