I was eating lunch today
watching the news, everything was gray
look at the soldiers dying
look at the mothers crying
look at the enemies lying
what are they hiding
five year old girl is missing
parent are pleading, anyone listening?
the worse is thought
the best is hoped
there is no note
Pillman body sent home
didn’t have a greedy bone
turned down 9 million dollars
turned in his football jersey and helmet
he went to fight for his country, it's not even over yet
40 is retired in his memory and honor
growing up in Arizona’s sauna
another business burned
another school is turned
another stock scandal
another burning candle
racing cars on the highway
lowering another teenage body, bye bye
drugs being sold in the middle schools
come on it is cool
headstone turned and smashed
boy was seen, taking out the light, where's he at
14 year old girl, pregnant
nothing new, just a different day and a different dance
Church bells ringing
flag lowered to half staff
21 gun salute
a moment of silent
look at the world we're living
look at the men who are killing
look at the drugs we're filling
look at the kids who are pilling
look at the values we are instilling
what has this society come to, why are we so willing?
shutting off the channel 7 news
now I am feeling the blues
