06/05/2012

Each picture of us is a memory.
Little pieces of our history.

A flash of light.
When the moment was right.

Creates an image of a perfect life.
A future husband and I wife.

Seeing the day I do propose.
Getting down on one knee,as the box I do expose.

Your eyes open wide, and you gasp for air.
As the diamond ring I do prepare.

I ask you to love me for eternity,
and that you are my life's missing key.

You accept, while from your face tears fall.
And you promise to be my all.

I continue to remain in this state,
and I see a future we create.

Looking beautiful in your wedding dress,
as I wait by the altar, with so much stress.

For I am unsure of what to do,
yet feel at ease because I have you.

I waste no time, and do not linger,
as I place the ring around your finger.

I hear the vows, and shed tears I can not hide,
as I can finally kiss my bride.

As the photo continues to hypnotize.
I see more of our future materialize.

Beside you is where I stand,
while you push, and clinch my hand.

I tell you that you are doing so well.
And you tell me to go to hell.

The pain subsides,as you give birth.
You brought our first child into this Earth.

They place the baby on your chest,
and all of us take a nice long rest.

I slip further from reality,
and dream on of things to be.

There are children running around the Christmas tree,
as I open a gift from you to me.

I then place my present within your grip,
and you waste no time, you begin to tear and rip.

We share a laugh, and a kiss or two.
While our children watch, and say "eww".

I fall deeper into the depths of my mind.
Leaving all my problems of the world behind.

It's been exactly fifty years since we each took that vow.
We've been through a lot,but stuck together some how.

I look the worst for wear.
My skin is wrinkled, and gray fills my hair.

You are still beautiful, with your gorgeous eyes.
With that smile that can still mesmerize.

Our children have families of their own.
Tons of grandchildren run around our home.

Making noise and playing games.
We both have trouble remembering all their names.

Our children celebrate, and show they care.
I look at you and begin to stare.

Thinking to myself, you're just as beautiful as the day I met you.
Since that day my skies have always been blue.

Tears fall, but it is not bad.
It's just that this future makes me sad.

I'm laying in my bed,and my time is near.
You hold my hand, and are full of fear.

You clinch it tight, and won't let go.
I'm scared, but will not show, even while my heart begins to slow.

You're face is like that of an angel above.
I am blessed to even have your love.

You cry for me with all your might.
I don't want to leave,that's why I still fight.

You touch my face, and say it's okay.
As I slowly start to drift away.

I say I love you,and give you one last kiss.
You hold me in your arms, because these are moments you can not miss.

In your arms is where I die.
Next to you is where I always wanted to lie.

Reality comes back, and I stand alone.
Picture in hand, and eyes a red tone.

I know that these dreams may never come true.
Especially now since I don't have you.

Everything is dark, and seems really bleak.
I have no strength, and feel very weak.

The truth is our path is not set.
As long as my heart beats,I'm not done fighting yet.
