It was nice while it lasted

We have just had our first baby. Theresa, she is five months old. I had a REALLY hard time adjusting to staying at home, even though it's something I always wanted. I didn't realize how freaking hard it is. If I worked there would be ABSOLUTELY no way that the chores wouldn't be split down the middle and thankfully, I think my husband would be ok with that, if I chose not to stay at home. Honestly, I could not imagine having a job and having all of this responsibility!! My husband helps me out as it is. I really hope things change and it gets easier for you.

It's very obvious that he thinks it's a female responsibility to do house chores and that is a BIG problem. I hope I'm not speaking out of line and I know you're not asking for my two cents, but I'm speaking from personal experience when I say this:

A marriage is team work.

I can't stress how important it is for both of you to have that mentality. You guys are a team and that means everything is done together no matter if it's chores, decision making, or parenting. He should not be sitting on his ass while he's home and you're working. You shouldn't be the one going to work and coming home to clean dishes even if it is just a pan and a fork. If it's so little, it wouldn't take him but two minutes to clean that up himself. Instead of wasting energy complaining about it, he ought to use that same energy to clean up whatever it is he's bitching about.

I watched my mom slave after my dad for 20 years. Their marriage didn't work because my dad refused to throw out his "that's the wife's job" mentality. My marriage didn't work because after my husband cheated on me, he tried to work things out with me for (literally) 3 days. Notice the pattern? Both situations did not have team work.

I know you didn't ask for my advice, but seeing as you're trying to make your marriage work I just wanted to help you

random commenter: am i wrong in assuming that your husband doesn't do his laundry or clean?

Bubble wrap

I love bubble wrap. Sometimes at work I get excited when I see it and stand there popping it. My boss laughs at me instead of telling me to get back to work. But she's also the same person who burst into laughter when a bottle of coke exploded in my face.

Toddler tantrums = mommy needs an isolation room

stronger outburst/tantrums are to be expected of children around the age of two. they're attempting to develop their own autonomy, and that can lead to some of these melt downs. it takes a lot of consistency, patiencte, boundaries, and creativity to get through it! perhaps try some sort of reward system for when she tries the new food items without the screaming? have a chart and stickers, or something similiar, and when she gets a certain amount, then she gets the reward (not necessarily food or a toy, but something she really enjoys).

Well.. My age range is 12-24 months. Over two is a little beyond my expertise. I don't know if this helps, but one of the things we do is switch out toys once in a while. Maybe if you put some old toys away for a week or two, then bring them out later, they'll be like new I'll try to think of more ideas. I have more of daycare mindset... I don't know much about how to help at home! A lot of our parents do say they're kids are very bored and naughty when they're home on the weekend

How old is she? I'm a toddler teacher Toddlers love to push buttons as they get close to two! As they get older, we think a lot of the behavior problems come from boredom.

Haha - she's probably not ratting you out, as you put it. She's probably fascinated and astonished by the fact that mummy has spilled something, and so wants to announce this fascinating and astonishing fact to the world! That's just what healthy 2-year-olds do!

And the war continues....if you can call it that anymore

I'm glad things are going well for you and hubby, that's great. He's obviously on the same page as you in regards to working your bums off to make your marriage a success.

Try and remember that a huge chunk of the weight you're gaining isn't actually fat; it's baby, increased blood flow, placenta, amniotic fluid etc., all of which will drop off when your baby arrives.

A roller coaster night

I hope she gets better, my 2year old was the same way a couple days back, except it was through the rear not the mouth
