.18.

My Mom really wants me to get married first and then I can move out of the house, however I would rather move out and make sure I can deal living with Travis first. Plus, I want to have the roomate experience as well. She thinks its just wrong, but I don't want to be still living at home when Im 24... She says that if I choose to move-out I wont have a car, phone, college, or health insurance. I just think she is going a bit too far. What do you think?

My mom personally cannot believe that my brother is still living at home - back when she was a teenager she moved out at 16 years old.

I would definitely move out with Travis first and see if you two can get along. You get to learn a lot more about a person when you move out with and live with them.

And all of those things are material things. You can work around not having a car or phone or what not.
There are a lot of different people that can provide help for you.

Your mum does have a point but then again she needs to let U go and experience things for yourself.

I moved in with my bf at 18, bought a house at 21, married at 22. Getting divorced now, but I certainly don't regret living with him before we got married. You don't know someone til you live with them.

I moved out when I was 20. I had to get my own car, figure out my own health care, I applied for financial aide for school when I was 24 (so they wouldn't count my parents income).. I bought and paid for my own cell phone. When you decide to move out you're deciding that you're an adult, and all of those responsibilities should be yours.

I've been out of the house since I was 17. I lived with them while I was pregnant, but I've been on my own for a year again.

I moved out at 16... my mom stopped everything. But I guess it makes sense since you'll be out of her house.
