Apparently, we are supposed to be one of the few parts of Dublin that can have an post (our postal system), the bin men and all can access. Of course, we only had our bins emptied yesterday, after two weeks of our entire area being ignored. And we haven't had any post since the day before Christmas Eve.
And nothing else.
All cars going through are of course crawling. They're crawling on the motorway as well, and the buses have been cancelled...more times than I can remember. Pretty much it's just easier to walk anywhere, as nothing else can be relied on.
Especially as it was snowing again this morning. It's pretty much only added a few more inches, but that...that's enough to send the entire of Dublin to a standstill. It's apparently the worst weather condition in terms of Winter snow, since the 1970's. And the report from MET Eireann (our weather report station) is that there was going to be more tomorrow, on Sunday. They of course, failed to realise that it was going to snow today as well.
The schools are still closed, and shops are only open with the amount of staff that can get in. Many of them are on skeleton crews, and if a staff member can get in, then they're usually late. Nothing they can do, but no one is calling in a Snow Day. So, we have nothing to do but get in if we can.
At least, that's what others are telling me.
I'm not back in work until Tuesday.
