The Jabs. The Looks. The Soft Put-Me-Downs. It's All There. Again.

10/18/2009

Apparently, or at least according to my colleagues at work, if I'm sick, I'm supposed to stay at home. If I have anything as small as a sniffle, I need to stay at home because otherwise I will infect everyone else.

And I've been dubbed Typhoid Mary.

So, according to them, I'm supposed to still be at home now (I only have a sniffle left) and have taken the past week off. Never mind the fact that I had had to take two work days during the time I was sick with 'Vertigo' because I couldn't get out of bed, and then returned with still a very bad headache and dizzyness because I didn't have any more days off.

It also isn't supposed to be taken into account with the fact that I have no more paid sick days left, and I took a bad hit when I had to take the second day off for Vertigo as my first day off took the last of my paid sick days.

When I got sick again, I was supposed to stay home. I had been told by my manager that unless I was stuck in bed, unable to get up, I had to be at work. It didn't matter how I was feeling. If I could stand, then I had to be there. And with me feeling that I am very close to being kicked out by this manager who really doesn't seem to like me (see previous entry), I had to come.

Last week, I went to the 'coughing stage' of my illness. When I get a head cold, it always follows a pattern: 1) the sniffles 2) scratchyness of throat 3) bunged up 4) headache because of being bunged up 5) slight dizzyness 7) sore throat 8) unable to swallow 9) light coughing 10) heavy coughing 11) coughing up stuff 12) heavy coughing 13) light coughing 14) unable to swallow 15) sore throat 16) slight dizzyness 17) headaches 18) bunged up again 19) scratchyness of throat and finally 20) the sniffles.

But, I had to go to work, and so was coughing everywhere. I, of course, kept tissues on hand and always covered my head. I had one of those 'hygeine liquid' bottles with me at all times and used it every time I sniffled and coughed.

I still had coughing fits though, and two days ago, I was given out to by one of the J's for being 'disgusting' while I was trying to help her cut up shapes for the Halloween display in the kids section. That was when I was once again called Typhoid Mary by the other J.

I'm just sick of it. Yes, I get sick. Yes, I do everything I can to make sure that I don't infect everyone else. And for the record, I wasn't the one who brought the sickness to the shop either, that was the Work Experience. The entire shop became sick at some point, and some had the luxery of being able to call in sick. I didn't.

And then one of them said that I probably had Swine Flu and that I should remain at home. Honestly. Swine Flu. Never mind the fact that I wasn't showing any of the signs that makes Swine Flu different from the normal cold. I had Swine Flu and should be at home.

I just want to....Agh!

It's bloody well starting again. It's only slight jabs, like it was before, but last time it got much worse. I was screamed at, accused of getting others into trouble and the like.

: Sighs :

I'm just tired of it all. I won't be able to take it all over again.

I won't.

If this starts....I don't know what I'll do.
