Keeping you in the know

05/23/2010

Hey! How are you? Long time no chat! What's been going on? So there has been a lot going on here - sort of. Where should I even start? Well, I think I ought to make some sort of bulleted list to sort the mess out. Ready? Let's do it.

1.) School
2.) Final Exams
3.) Work
4.) Prospects
5.) Surprises
6.) P.S. etc.

1.) School. So school is finally done with - at least for the semester. This semester was definitely a test for me because I just wasn't into it. I really struggled with it. There's a huge void that I felt in my education because I would see people who I spent my entire pre-high school graduation career with who were getting their degrees. Hell, I saw the younger siblings of the people who I spent my entire pre-high school graduation career with getting their degrees. I understand that college/university doesn't necessarily follow the simple 4 year pattern, however, when this fall will finish up my 6th year - I'm thinking I ran into a problem. No, alcohol NEVER was an issue as I don't drink, by choice. It more dealt with changing majors thrice and getting my Associates Degree before attempting my Bachelors Degree. So there is a decent reason for the extended education timeline, but I still feel as if I've failed myself a little.

2.) Final exams. Finals in upper level English classes aren't actually exams, they are papers. I thought I learned well enough that having 3+ upper level English classes means hell, but I must be a glutton for punishment. After 2 portfolios and 5 papers, I finished. I'm not pleased with my grades, however, I gained the knowledge to keep on task. So I suppose it works out.

3.) Work. I got the job at the Olive Garden. Yes, I know I've said it, but I haven't been able to tell you the perks. I now am a card carrying member of a HEALTH INSURANCE CARD!!! Yes, I am that excited. I saved myself over $18 on one prescription because of my insurance. Yes, I am lame, but hell, I enjoy saving the money. I now work 20+ hours a week. Perks to that? I get paid pretty well. I am making friends. I am losing weight. Downfalls? I am so damn sore after every time I work. But hey, no pain, no gain.

4.) Prospects. New work = new people = new prospects. There are several attractive guys I work with. The End.

5.) Surprises. Well, I failed to mention that a week ago yesterday (May 15), I graduated with my Bachelors Degree. Okay, so I didn't go to the ceremony, but I celebrated with my family at home. We had a cook out and we played games. I had a blast and was in the comfort of my own home with my family. Just how I would've wanted it to be.

6.) P.S. etc. Yeah, this category was if I forgot anything. Nope. Nothing forgotten, though I'm not sure if I forgot anything. If so, oh well, there's always another entry to be written if so.

So that's that. Are you all caught up yet? I'm not. Then again, I will never catch up within my own life. But? I'm okay with that. I leave you with this piece of advice.

Never cut yourself short, sometimes it takes another look through a different shade of glasses to see what you missed all along. Love you!
