My Generation's Twilight

Now, admittedly, I haven't read Twilight. However I've read extracts and heard reviews from people with similar taste in books to me. The consensus seems to be that it's fairly badly written. As such I haven't gone near it.

But...

...In my teenage years I was a huge L J Smith fan. The Forbidden Game trilogy was one of my favourites, and I must have read those books over and over - as well as the Nightworld series. From what I've heard, these books have a lot of parallels with Twilight (not least because the Nightworld series has vampires in). I haven't read them in years.

So tell me - who else remembers L J Smith? Is Twilight better or worse (in terms of prose etc)? Am I just a giant hypocrite spoiling everyone's fun, yo?

Oh my god, I was obsessed with the Forbidden Game.
Twillight is worse. On epic levels. At least there was some character to the characters in Forbidden Game.

GOSH, YO - NEVER HEARD OF IT! I'VE SO CLEARLY MISSED OUT! I DID READ MANY BOOKS IN MY TEEN YEARS THAT WERE WAY BETTER THAN TWILIGHT THOUGH. IN FACT, I CAN'T RECALL READING ANY BOOKS THAT WERE WORSE!
