Puppy worries.
Hmm.. Ever since we've had
Boo he's been on the same sleep schedule as us.. he takes naps in the day, but come 11ish at night he's tuckered out and ready for bed.
Tonight.... is a different story. He's been walking back and forth, sniffing the pee pads but not going. I thought maybe he wanted a walk even though he had one earlier, so I
risked our lives taking the damn puppy on a walk by myself thru a bad neighborhood at 12:30AM.
(Thankfully we only saw one person and he crossed the street when he saw us and wished us a good night.) Boo peed twice on the walk and had taken a
major dump on the pee pad before we left, so I don't think he
has to go potty.. He's had plenty of food & water today so I don't think
he's hungry, and there's still water in the bowls... I thought maybe he just had energy which is why I took him for
another walk so late at night but when we got back home he did the same stuff, pacing & not settling down. He did that for about
10 mins after we got home,
now he finally came and laid at my feet and seems to be asleep.
When we first found him we didn't have a collar or leash for him, so
my Aunt gave me one of thos free-be leashes that the vet gives.
...Yanno, the one that's kinda short and chokes if they pull but the leash / collar are one... So I used that for about a month before I bought him a collar and leash. But honestly,
he does much better on the free one than he does on the store bought one. I used the short, free, choke one tonight when I took him and he was
SOOOO much better than earlier.
Also, he's started
whimpering when we walk past dogs in their yard that bark at him. And he knows which houses the dogs are usually at. Tonight,
cause it was so late, none of the barking dogs were out... But he stopped and looked for them. He didn't
whimper but he sure did
stop at each house that the barking dogs live lol. When we first started doing walks he didn't whimper at all, the about a month into it he just started one day and hasn't
stopped. I'd really like to break him of this habbit while he's still a puppy. I don't make a big deal about it and I just say
Boo, come on! and pull him along with me. I feel bad about doing that but I know if I coddle him it will just encourage him to continue the behavior.
But at the same time... I don't want to be
tooooo mean for just him whimpering...
