Am I the only woman on the earth who just can't make this mascara work?

About a year ago, I bought my first tube of CoverGirl LashBlast, after watching a YouTube video in which a makeup guru name LashBlast, at under $7 a pop, her all-time go-to mascara over department store brands like Lancome and Dior. Hmmm... okay, if I can beat that for under $10, why not?

My experience was not as happy.

The biggest thing, I think, was the fact that the LashBlast totally burned my eyes. I gave it about 3 tries before making a heartfelt goodbye, and the LashBlast went to the trash. I hate throwing away perfectly good makeup, but I also hate makeup that gives me pain!

Okay, so a year later, I decide to give it another chance, after reading even MORE fabulous reviews on YouTube. Maybe I got a bad tube from a crummy batch. So, I picked up the same thing... non-waterproof, very black, and gave it a try.

Strike one. It STILL burns my eyes! I don't know WHAT it is about this mascara, but yikes!

Strike two. It's SO hard to remove. And no, this isn't waterproof mascara. What gives? I usually use baby oil and/or a traditional gel makeup remover, but this did not want to BUDGE!

Strike three. It flaked. A lot.

Strike four. My lashes don't look THAT thick. And they look stubby. I hate stubby. And they feel oddly crispy. Yes, mascara makes my lashes feel kinda hard usually... but not CRIPSY. LOL!

But, one big point in its favor... my lashes DO look VERY VERY black. Seriously black. Blacker than any mascara I've tried before.

I think for the thick, full lash effect, I'll just stick to my L'oreal Extra Volume Collagen Mascara.

It costs about the same, flakes a little less, doesn't burn my eyes, and actually makes my lashes look thick. Now, I do wish it looked as dramatically BLACK as the Covergirl, but I figure this is an okay tradeoff.

So, give me your opinions. What's YOUR favorite mascara?

I like the purple one. I think it's lash exact? It's worked well for me

You know, I noticed something with the lash blasts.

The luxe in black, burned my eyes.
The regular in black, burned my eyes.


The brown in both, doesn't do a thing to them.

I personally think it's something to do with the chemicals used to make it black. Total suck.

I can't wear black mascara, I'm too fair-haired and fair-skinned. But I absolutely love CoverGirl's Professional All-In-One mascara in black/brown. I haven't tried the LashBlast, but I really want to try the Exact Eyelights mascara for blue eyes.

I also do not like Lash Blast. It did nothing for my lashes! I really like Make Up Forever's Smokey Lash. It is a little more expensive ($18 I think) But, it makes my lashes look so long!

i use lashblast, and love the way it makes my lashes look, tho i agree that it's tough to get off (tho, i use waterproof). i think the way my lashes look big and fat and BLACK is a tradeoff for the fact that it doesn't want to come off at the end of the day. and you can't beat the price.
alternately, i love clinique's mascaras.

LashBlast was an okay mascara, IMO... Not great, not awesome. It did lengthen my lashes, but at the cost of clumpiness and flaking.

I've found I really like this one by Neutrogena - The Healthy Volume. It has some olive oil in it, to help condition the lashes. Pretty good at separating and lengthening... But, it would raccoon my eyes by the end of the day.

Now, though, I'm trying out the Exact EyeLights Waterproof Mascara in sapphire. I like it a lot so far... We shall see.

My favorite is LashBlast, I can't lie. Although now that I think about it my eyes do usually burn a teeny bit and they water a little when I wear it. Interesting.

I really like the Rimmel London Sexy Curves, but that one is impossible for me to remove. It likes my lashes too much. lol

I love CG Lash Blast. I don't recall it ever making my eyes burn but next time I use it I'm going to see it I notice it. I use Clean and Clear makeup removing wipes and it comes off easily.

Lashblast is my favouriteeeee mascara. I will use only lashblast. Never had a problem with burning... or flaking... or clumping
it's got to be one of the only mascaras i've ever used that was this good and i've tried quite a few
