Okay, this was started first as a makeup diary, then I expanded to hair care and skin care, so why not fitness and clothes and jewelry too? I'd rename myself beauty*chrissy, but that sounds a little silly and vain (LOL) so I'll stick to makeup*chrissy for now. Let me know if the expansion into all things beauty ruins the diary!!
So, I recently moved and due to the placement of my patio, I had to trade my beloved satellite TV for cable... but much to my semi-lazy half-hearted delight, I discovered that I now have access to fitness videos on demand! How fun!
Now, I'm not getting into weight loss at this time in this diary, not only because I'm not a nutritionalist or a personal trainer, but also because things like that are so intensely personal and sensitive that it just isn't a fit-all thing. I'm trying to value working out as a step to my own physical and mental health and well-being. And, I generally just FEEL more beautiful when I feel energized and flexible and spunky! So, just keep that in mind. I'm not telling anyone to lose weight or how to lose weight... I'm just giving my personal opinions on a workout I've been trying lately.
The reason I think this is beauty related, also, is because it's just not a serious workout. It's not even a difficult workout. So, if you're a gym bunny already, this just may not be for you. But if you're like me... watching the p90X informercials from the couch, thinking OH GAWD, THAT LOOKS LIKE A LOT OF WORK, feeling in the back of your mind that perhaps you should be doing a teeny fraction of that work, but nooooo... not today.... THEN this workout MAY be fun for you.
Hemalayaa Bollywood Dance Blast.
Now I do need to add a disclaimer that I only get one of the two 20 minute workouts on demand. So, I haven't even seen or used the second workout. The second workout could really, really suck. I have no idea.
Another disclaimer: in the warmup, the voice over starts vibrating her voice all weird, like she's trying to simulate an orgasm. It's cheesy. She's trying to loosen you up and make you have fun. Ignore it. It gets better.
Last disclaimer: this workout does have some woo-woo spiritualist yoga-ish aspects to it. They are easily ignored, unless that really bothers you.. in which case, I'd probably urge you to find a different dance workout instead (or maybe even Turbo Jam. That stuff is FUN!)
This workout is really unstructured, too. If that bothers you, try a more gym based one (like that P90X we mentioned before... LOL I actually DO own the set. Do I use it? Not so much. But I have watched them all!) There are places where you're literally just shaking your hips and dancing around like a fool. You're urged to make faces, jump in place, swing your arms around, and be a fool. Pretty much, that's all you're urged to do, for about 20 minutes. It's very repetitive and extremely cheesy.
But, I really love it. It's FUN! I look forward to it. It's not the best workout around, but it's one that actually makes me get off the couch. It makes me sway my hips and throw my arms around and prance like a pageant girl with pizazz!
Plus, the cheesy, fruity instructor has FABULOUS makeup!
Tell me about your favorite workouts in the comments below. And, thanks for reading!
