If you've seen the YouTube videos, you know that the monthly favorites are just a nice rundown of the user's most used beauty products for a particular month. So, here's my first, and feel free to list in the comment below what your favorite October products were!!
1.
Rimmell Lycra Lash Extender Mascara
I didn't really take her seriously when a friend of mine told me, "Hey, Chrissy, I picked up this AMAZING mascara from the drugstore and you gotta try it! It's Rimmel and it makes my lashes look SO unbelievably long!".
Ok, Rimmel? Great mascara? Not convinced.
But, on a whim, I picked up a tube for about 5 bucks at Target and gave it a try.
TOTALLY CONVINCED!
Seriously, try it. It definitely gives my wimpy lashes a nice wispy look, and it even looks better if I use an eyelash curler pre-application. It's not clumpy (and not really thickening, either.. which may be an issue depending on what you seek in a mascara!) and is pretty natural looking (well, ok, better than natural looking... but definitely not goopy or spidery!).
So, yes, I'm reformed. Totally don't feel the need to spend $15 bucks on a mascara when $5 will do the trick!
2. +
Sally's mascara + brow brush and Ardell Brow Powder.
Ran out of my old fave and decided maybe it was a smidgen too dark for my blonde anyways, so I picked this up about a month ago, in taupe. Fabulous! It looks super-natural, but is dense enough to fill in the sparseness that I'd (loosely) call brows! I use the angled side to apply the powder, then give it a second to settle. Then I flip to the mascara brush side and "brush" lightly on the brow until it looks less like a harsh line and more like an actual human eyebrow! Works for me, and was definitely a highly used product in October.
3.
Coastal Scents: Silk Cover Mineral Foundation.
I'll be doing a full review on this product, upcoming, so for now, I'll just leave you with a picture! Stay tuned!!
4.
Napoleon Perdis Lip Stain and Plumper.
At $15 per tube, this is a little pricey, but I think it's made of crack. Seriously. ADDICTIVE! Mine is in a nice barbie-pink shade, which normally I'd find a bit aversive, but in this product it works. It's pretty pigmented for a lip gloss, and boy does it tingle! I can't say that my lips are notoriously plumper after using it, but they FEEL awesome, and that's good enough for me.
5.
Naturelle-Nutri Ox for Chemically Treated Hair.
First, my hair isn't chemically treated, but I do have a sensitive scalp AND baby-fine hair (irritating combination!). If you've ever tried Nioxin, this seems to be a less expensive, more gentle alternative. The shampoo and conditioner have a menthol scent to them (which I happen to adore!), which actually makes the scalp tingle a little (in a good way!). And, if you're not experiencing early signs of hair loss, ditch the 3rd step, the treatment. The shampoo and conditioner feel so luxurious AND gentle, that I'm already on my 3rd installment! (And, if you are experiencing hair loss, check out the reviews on Sally's website. Very promising!)
6.
Clarin's bronzer. Reviewed it before. Still can't get enough.
7.
Bliss Thinny Thin Chin. At $40 a bottle, I can't recommend that you run out and buy this, if you're hoping for the "slimming" effect it boasts on the bottle. But, at (now marked down even lower!) $10 a piece at TJ Maxx, I can give it a solid thumbs up. The tightening sensation on the skin is temporary, at best, but the grapefruity smell is SO amazing that I still use it daily, regardless.
OKAY, those are my October faves! Feel free to list yours below!
