LOL, I keep saying that once I find a mascara I LOVE, I'll just quit there. I'll use it, love it, flaunt my sassy lashes, and quit wasting money on mascaras that just don't do the trick.
But, alas, such is the life of a makeup junkie. If a new mascara comes out, I MUST try it, use it, AND review it, no>
So, browsing through the drugstore I saw the NEW Revlon Double Twist mascara. The packaging flaunts AMAZING volume, FANTASTIC separation, and that all-around WOW-ZA factor! Okay, yes, I'm sold. It was $6.99 and is readily available at your local drugstore, Walmart, or Target. Hoorah!
STRIKE ONE. I goofed and bought waterproof. I rarely use waterproof mascara. I hate the hassle of removing it, and generally just don't find it to be as smooth and luscious on my lashes. Didn't even realize it until I was trying to remove the mascara, but okay, no biggie.
STRIKE TWO. It smells like paint. Literally. It's disgusting. Maybe it's just the waterproof formula? I hope. It really is overwhelming, and while I know I'm picky on scents, I've never had a mascara actually smell like wet paint.
STRIKE THREE. Everything else. Seriously, this is the most horrible mascara I've ever used. I'm really hoping it's just the waterproof formula, but am not sure I'm brave enough to test that theory. Really.
For one, it burned my eyes. I do have sensitive eyes, but out of a zillion mascaras, I've had really only 2 now that irritated them beyond belief... Covergirl Lash Blast and THIS little gem. So, I already knew, after the third day of using it, that enough was enough. But second, this mascara was SO flaky. Seriously, I had little speckles of black under my eyes each of the three days I used it. And, while the lashes themselves looked fairly thick (not AMAZING by any means LOL) upon application, by the end of the day, each time my eyelashes looked short, stumpy, and clumped. Really unappealing.
So, I hereby give Revlon Double Twist WaterProof Mascara (in black) my official seal of dishonor. Hate it and will definitely not repurchase.
