Okay, this time I'm going to try to keep up with this little diary. For real. I totally mean it.
Right?
So, first things first. I'm starting to experiment with a few things, and will do occasional posts on here updating my progress on each. To cover each of the things:
1. NUTRISYSTEM. Yes. The pre-packaged food. I tried this once, years ago, and have actually reordered a month's supply to give it another try. I have some weight I want to lose before the holidays this year, and I think this is a great way for me to start. If successful, I may segway either into another month of Nutrisystem or, more likely, into a Weight Watchers based program (since that's the only thing my fiance agreed to do with me!) I ordered my month's supply (of the classic plan, not the new one that includes frozen food... that one is WAY too expensive!). I'll be receiving a breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack for each day, and will be responsible for adding my own fruit and veggies.
2. POWER FIT HARMONY. If you haven't seen it, this is a Stephanie Huckabee (of "The Firm" workout set which includes ten 20-minute workouts. They alternate cardio with core and upper/lower body and they utilize three different strength elastic stretchy bands. I will rotate these for one month, and then may segway into one of the Beachbody programs (that I already have) in the next month.
3. NEW SKINCARE. My whole life I've been fighting with dryish acne prone skin, and I seem to have a serious aversion to most commercial acne lines. (I've tried Proactiv, Murad, Philosophy, Clinique, and nearly everything at the drugstore, to no avail.) Well, I was reading a back issue of (my favorite) LUCKY magazine yesterday and found an article describing the benefits of retinol. Retinol is usually used to prevent/lessen wrinkles and fine lines, but has also been used in the treatment of acne. I talked to a few people who had success with retinol, and decided to give it a try. So, my new skincare regime, beginning tomorrow, will consist of my standby Lush cleanser, a newly obtained gentle cream cleanser for nights, a thick moisturizer for nights (to counter the dryness that may occur with retinol), a light moisturizer with SPF for days (retinol increases sun sensitivity) and a retinol night cream (for nights only) and retinol eye cream (night and day). I'll list the products in a future entry.. just sticking with a brief overview for now.
Also, I'm looking for a new background for this, as the colors and font really are impossible to read... and I'm having even more trouble on my MacBook, as I'm just not quite as familiar with how to do fancy things on here. And, I'll be doing a few makeup reviews as well as an entry on the products I'm loving lately in makeup.
As always, thanks for reading! |
