So exactly one month to the day after my grandpas stroke, he passed away.
He was doing excellent with the recovery but he was a DNR and the night prior to this event, he had pulled his feeding tube out by 'accident'. He didnt pull it all the way out and it was sitting at the back of his throat. He left it there while he was being fed. His lungs started to fill up with the liquid protein drink, He passed away the next day.
The doctors put it from natural causes of a stroke, but they said they wouldnt "write what really happened"... we know. He had always talked about how he would never want to live if he had to be confined to a bed and be taken care of because "thats not living".... I completely agree.
I guess they were talking about the "what ifs" in front of him with the doctor a few days prior, they pretty much said that he will be living in a home and will not be able to take care of himself anymore, he wouldnt even be able to feed himself anymore. So we gather he made a decision on what he felt was right....
I miss him very much. Our family understands why he made that decision and I really really dont blame him.
