There is no phase where you slowly become an adult, there's just one day where you wake up and find out the facts. You just ARE an adult now. You have your own place away from your parents, you pay bills, pay insurance, buy groceries, save up for things you want because you can't afford to throw your whole check at something on a whim, and you damn sure don't get any help with any of these things any more because your parents are a hundred miles away and probably no better off than you are. You are now a functioning, accountable member of society, whether you want to be or not. So sure, you can waste all your time goofing off and acting like a kid wondering when you really make that magical transition into driving minivans, drinking scotch and climbing a corporate ladder, but in the end it's not hurting anyone but yourself. So man up and act like you have a functioning brain because without it, you won't find yourself anywhere you want to be.
