Well, to start with, my truck is in a semi-working order. It turns out that the starter wasn't engaging the fly-wheel properly. Which keeps the whole thing from doing more than buzzing with electric current. The answer was a simple one. Smack the damn thing. Hitting the starter with a hammer from the right angle unsticks the spring on the starter when it gets stuck and it will engage the fly-wheel, which means it will start. Now, it's only a temporary fix, but it's certainly better than having a totally gimped truck. I'll need to get a new starter for it soon, but it shouldn't cost terribly much and tomorrow or the next day, I should be able to draw a check for the work that I've been doing on my boss's house.
Speaking of the house, I really don't have much work left to do on it. But the work that I do have to do is pretty much boring as hell and just plain time consuming. I have to sand the back three rooms. I already sanded all the ceilings, which was overly tedious in itself, but I also had to patch the walls, since the previous occupants saw fit to smash through them at various times. So now I have to manually sand everything. Manually because some ass clown disconnected the electricity to the entire house, making my electric sander and my radio both worthless. Ugh.
I was able to make it up to see Lindsay this weekend after all, thanks to a friend discovering the old "smack the starter to make it work" trick, and it was pretty nice. I watched some movies with her Saturday night and then went to sleep. Or I did. Lately she's been either extremely stressed or she's some kind of sick because she has to literally be exhausted to sleep. No matter how tired she is, she can't manage sleep unless she absolutely needs it. Yay insomnia. And since she's like that, she's prone to going from feeling perfectly fine, to terrible, and then somehow back again to fine. Weird as that is. But we went and saw the latest Harry Potter movie on Sunday, which was alright. I didn't like it as much as the last movie, but it did a pretty decent job of staying true to the book. As I remember it. It's been a long time since I read it. Anyway.
Since I got home, I've felt a lot like writing, but haven't really gotten around to it. I sort of know what I want to do with it, but with all the reading I've been doing lately, I'm a little worried that I'll just end up writing another version of it, which I don't want. I want whatever I write to be my own intellectual property. I can admit to influence, but sometimes if I write too soon after reading something good, I end up using the other authors ideas, which I try to avoid.
In other news, I've recently noticed that pretty much everywhere I look, people are making completely uninformed opinions and making them into big long rants which everyone seems to agree with. And I admit we all, myself obviously included, form opinions on a subject without knowing the whole thing about it and talk about it. However, there's usually a point where you learn otherwise and then reform your views. And it seems the only area that people absolutely refuse to reform their views is in religion Religious rants usually are very annoying to me personally. Either the person is completely uninformed on what they're talking about, yet they talk as if they know all of it, or they know a little of it annd twist words to fit their own neat little context. Or they know nothing or everything and they're just out to slander it. The two most often used seem to be Christianity and Islam. I know much less about the latter, so generally avoid argument or even debate about it. I am, however, relatively well versed in the former, having been one most of my life. I just don't understand why it is people can take religious things ten miles out of context just to argue about it. They holler about religious tolerance and are just as biggoted as the people they fight. And the people they fight are generally only a vocal minority. The big long rants and whatnot make me want to say something, but while I don't mind debate, it always always always devolves into senseless shit slinging. So that's something that's been, not really a big issue, just really annoying lately.
And at least 2 out of my four readers already knew this. Or maybe just one out of three, considering the last time I heard from Sarah her internet was down. Hmm.
SARAH! FIX YOUR INTERNETS!!
And I suspect I'm going to get a couple tldr's if you even bother to comment at all, but that's life, isn't it. Hope you all are doing well.
