Our Children... Our Future

12/15/2012

I don't know one family that was affected directly by today's shooting, yet I know many families that were indirectly affected (my own included). I was at work when I first heard about the shooting that occurred today. A lady going through my line was on her cell phone talking about a shooting at an elementary school. As soon as I heard this, I started shaking... I interrupted her asking her what shooting and where did it happen. Even as I write this, the fear comes back to me. See I have a 6yr old son who lives with my parents. All I could think is that something may have happened in his school and no one even had called me. Now maybe this didn't happen to him, or in his school, but I'd be nieve to think it would never happen. These shooting are becoming the norm and that is such a scary thought. We think it could never happen to us or our families, but how many families believed the same thing before their precious babies were killed today?!?! THIS IS OUR CHILDREN PEOPLE, THIS IS OUR FUTURE and we are allowing these monsters to come into our schools and murder them. I don't know about you, but I know this made me rethink my child even returning to school tomorrow. What if a copycat decided they needed to get their name on the 10:00 news and shoot up your child's school or mine!?!? Then what!

If you have been affected by today's shooting, your in my thoughts and prayers. I am sorry you have had to go through this. I wish there was something I could say or do to make things better for you, but I know without a doubt there's no words that could make things better so all I can say is I truly am sorry for you and your family.

Where it happened is only an hour from me. I just keep thinking of those kids who were spared, how do you explain to them that they lost their friend and why they lived?

I mean when my brother passed away, his kids were young, the youngest was 2 his middle child was 5 and I don't know how we ever made it threw that.

This is just...

I mean how are parents dealing with it? How do you send your child to school and not be worried sick?

It's all just a big question mark and who know's the answers..

I was at the mall and woman with a CT lience plate parked next to me with a child in the back seat asleep, and I could hear her radio and she just started crying.. It's just..so unreal..
