Paper Towns
A few days ago, my friend lent me her book. She insisted I read it because she was going to "teach me literature". So, fine, I said, it couldn't be that bad. It turns out, Paper Towns by John Green is a really superb book. Unfortunately, the book is so beautifully written that I can't understand it. Do you know what I mean? I mean, I'm literally reading a sentence and I'm trying to think deeply what it means. However, in what I read in another book, if you don't understand the words in a book, it's fine, you just continue and let the words swirl around you until they sink in.
The plot was really great but the ending was tragic- for me. I love happy endings so don't blame me! It was really depressing when they couldn't be together. I need to give John Green credit though, it was realistic and true. First love doesn't last and it was already good enough that Margo and Quentin crossed paths in their lives. I love the last line in the book. "Yes, I can see her almost perfectly in the cracked darkness" I understand it somewhat. Quentin finally sees her as what she is- a girl unsure of herself. He sees her truly after believing all his perceptions of what he thought she was like. It was an amazing book and I couldn't put it down. Sure, Q and Margo won't meet again, but that's life and it's better to accept the void rather than try to fix it.
So thank you hazzywazzy for recommending me Paper towns. You rock 8)
