.4. Help?!? How to read labels (calories etc.)

05/10/2014

TITLE

My Personal Diary

So....of course while I'm working out I need to learn how to eat/drink healthy also or all of this work I'm trying to do is pointless. I don't know how to tell what is healthy. I mean, I can understand in my head that vegetables are better than a hamburger....But I still don't know how to read the labels. What my intake should be for my weight. What I could substitute for my coke (I hate tea), but I have found a tea that is half tea, half cherry lemonade. Although I don't know if it's BETTER for me or not lol. Any pointers would be great!

A doctor can help you figure out what calorie intake is best for your weight loss. I also think that this is a neat tool:

One of my friends lost 70 pounds recently. She said that it really helped her to manage portion sizes, work out often, and keep unhealthy snacks out of the house.

Good luck!

I'd recommend checking out sparkpeople.com. They will help you set goals for calorie intake as well as exercise to safely get to your goal weight. Also lots of articles and forums with info and tips.
Quick and dirty rule of thumb: daily caloric intake is goal weight in lbs x 10, so if you want to drop to 160, 1600 calories/day (combined with exercise) will get you there.

Join myfitnesspal.com. It's a site that logs your calories and has a huge food database.
Secondly, buy a kitchen scale. It'll help you portion out serving size easily [and it depressing to see how much two tablespoons of peanut butter really is].
