Something to occupy my time...

I know I've been gone for a while again. Been awful busy. Got all of our pups to their new homes! And they are happy and spoiled! Friends took 3 of them so I will get to see them all the time. One of my friends took 2 of them! He just loved the little pups! :] So I will be able to update you guys about those 3. and maybe even get pics. :]

I found something to occupy my time. Although it's not turning out so well at the moment. Me and Mel found a dog. She's a black lab. I have a friend that runs a shelter so I took her there, we called her Lady! My friend took her in. When I went to the shelter to drop Lady off, I just stood and cried. There were soo many dogs and cats that didn't have a home to go to. And I felt bad for all of them. I couldn't hold back my tears for them. So me and my sister decided to start volunteering at her shelter. We went in the next day and started cleaning out pens. She had 80 dogs going out to foster homes that day. So we helped load them all up. It was so great to get to bond with all of those animals. Right before we left Abbey [the owner of the shelter] brought out a litter of three 2 week old chocolate lab puppies. Something had happened to their mother and they were going to put them in with another littler to see if it would work. 2 of them latched on right away. The third, a sweet little girl refused to latch on. So Abbey brought her to me. She asked me if I would try to wean her. I agreed. For the past 2 days I have bottle fed her every two hours, even through the night. Me and Melissa slept in the living room and set our alarms to wake up. We named the puppy Lucy. We had Lucy in a box by the furnace, with a heating pad under her because her body temp kept dropping.

Yesterday we received a call saying that the other two puppies had already passed the same day we took Lucy. Yesterday afternoon, Lucy had 2 seizures. And she stopped eating. But we stimulated her and got a little bit stronger. We got her to start eating again. She did great last night! She was beating the odds. She ate and would move around and try to bark. :]

Today, she took a turn for the worse. She was eating fine. Then around 12:30 I picked her up to feed her again. She had her mouth open and she was gasping for air. I quickly put her up against my body, started rubbing her chest to stimulate her and lightly blowing in her face to help her catch her breath. I tried giving her some milk, but it just ran out of her mouth. I held her for an hour rubbing her chest and praying I could save her. At about 1:30 this afternoon She gasped one last time. After that gasp [whether u think I'm lying or not] she took her two front paws and pushed my fingers away from her chest. And then she was gone. I still held her for a little while afterwards. I guess I was still hoping for a comeback. Eventually my mom made me put her back in her box. I'm leaving her there until Mel gets home from work. Then we will burry her together.

I know we only had her for 2 days. But we fell in love with her. And it hurts to do everything we possibly could, and still lose her.

RIP Sweet babygirl! You will never be forgotten! You will always be in our hearts, Precious Lucy!
