I was asked to post an entry talking about our process and how my wife and I go about TTC. So, this is it! :]
I would like to begin by telling you about my donor and his wife. They are very good friends of ours! We met when they moved into the apartment next to my moms. After knowing each other for a while, I started babysitting their 1 year old. [he was not one at the time.] We were also there right after the birth of their second child, this past October. After we lost our first donor, I was talking to Steph [the wife] about how I was going to find another one. She then told me that her and her husband, Tommy had often talked about donating. We then all sat down and discussed him becoming our donor! It is good for us because he is known. I like the idea of having a known donor! And I know that he wouldn't want any rights if/when we do get pregnant! Plus this way, I know more about him! Not just history, medical info, but also his personality and what he's really like!
Now to the actual process..
First, obviously, I keep track of my cycle! My donor and his wife also keep up with my cycle. We discuss it often! That way we kind of know ahead of time when we will be doing the inseminations. We talk a lot about it the day of, just to make sure we all know the plan.
That day, I sterelize all of our things. Making sure they are clean and dry. Then when we are all ready, we take the container to them. Usually we take their children out somewhere so that they can be alone.
I cannot tell you what they do. lol I would never want to be there to witness it! But from what I understand, she gives him oral. He says he has never had a hand to man relationship, and he never will.
When they are done, Steph texts me to let me know. We then take their children home and get our donation.
After that, we rush home! We go straight into the bedroom, where I position my pillows while my wife gets the sperm into the needleless syringe.
I then lay on my back with my hips elevated. My wife inserts the sperm. Then I lay with my legs straight up in the air for 30 min. Sometimes, I have an O. Some people say that helps! :] Either way, it can't hurt, and I quite enjoy that part! :]
So...that's our process!
If I'm doing anything wrong....please tell me! lol
Have a good night everyone! |
