"Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss it, you will land among the stars."
I'm not the most confident person, but I've recently discovered that I can't keep letting my insecurities get in the way of the things I like to do, or what I really want in life. And, this week, I'm going to work on going after what I want, even if others might have something to say about that. I'm going to go for the ball in volleyball, even if I might miss it and others might get mad at me for doing so. I'm going to speak my mind in class and not give a shit whether or not I sound stupid or intellectual. I'm not going to let the fact that I'm terrible with math make me fail. I'm going to study my hardest and get Princeton-ready SAT scores. And if i don't succeed, I won't give up. Did the men defending my America give up on gaining our freedom? Did the English give up when NAZI Germany invaded France and attacked them? Did Macbeth let people get in his way of becoming King? Did Albert Einstein gain his knowledge and fame by sitting at home and not doing anything? Did Johnny Cash or Elvis Presley make themselves known by giving up when things got hard, or by actually doing something? My point is: Nothing will get in my way. Because, even if I don't achieve exactly what I want by doing this, I'll have gained something out of it. |
